Played well. He wasn't perfect and the INTs hurt badly but it is now more clear for all to see how incredible of a QB recruiting class we had in 2019 in one of the most desperate of situations.
1st half, 13-19 69.4%, 164 yds, 8.63 ypa, 2 TDs, 1 INT (1 carry, a sack for -5 yds)
Incredible 1st half and the 8.63 ypa really stands out for a true frosh getting his first game reps of his career
none of his 1st 8 completions were behind the LOS (less risk) but 4 of his final 5 completions in the half were behind the LOS making it 4 of 13, 31% very very similar to JD and less than Manny in 2018
He also had a 33 yard completion to Matthews called back on a illegal receiver downfield call on Henderson who was 1 yard further than allowed (maybe not even that when the ball was released.....it was more of the ref expecting an OL to be downfield on the double reverse. Tough call
In the 2nd half thing weren't quite as good but not bad. (And the drops hurt his stats badly). Yellen was 15-25, 60%, 128 yds, 5.12 ypa, 2 TDs, 1 INT
Overalll 28-44, 63.6%, 292, 6.64 ypa, 4 TDs, 2 INTs, 1 carry (the lone sack) for -5 yds
He had 3 more completions behind the LOS so 7 on the game for 25% (much lower than any game for Manny as a 5th year senior)
INCOMPLETIONS:
1)Q1, drive 1, play 1, INC to Aiyuk on a go route down sideline. Well thrown and PI could have been called
2)Q1, drive 1, play2, INC to Williams thrown low on a 5 yard out route
3)Q1, series 2, Aiyuk curled in in the EZ and Yellen threw for a back shoulder on outside, Aiyuk had fallen down
4)Q1, series 3, INC to an open Williams over the middle
5)Q2, series 4, INC to Eno who shows his extremely limited catch radius, missed an open Darby
6)Q2, series 4, INT by Pola-Mao, Kerley had the CB beaten by a step on a go-route down sideline but Yellen hung it too long allowing Pola-Mao to cross the field and make the INT at the 1
2nd half
7)Q3, series 10, INC to Aiyuk on a slant and pass hit both of Aiyuk's hands in stride
8)Q3, series 10, INC to Williams on a 5 yd out, on 3rd and 2 Williams would not dive for the sure 1st down but stayed in stride and the ball hit his finger tip
9)Q4, series 11, INC to a WIDE OPEN Darby for a possible 63 yd TD
10)Q4, series, 12, INC to Williams at the sideline/LOS
NOT INCLUDED IN STATS
Q4, 2 pt. xtra pt attempt to Darby tipped at last second and off Darby's hands
11)Q4, series 13, INC to Aiyuk on a perfect pass on a go route from the 1/2 yard line to the 40 down the sideline and great coverage
12)Q4, series 13, INC to Porter on a slant great defense to jar ball out but he would have been a yard short of the 1st down anyway
13)Q4, series 14, INC to Kerley on a 50/50 back shoulder well thrown
14)Q4, series 14, INC to Williams, bad decision by Yellen throwing into triple coverage, very lucky no INT
15)Q4, series 14, INC to Hudson who mad a HUGE drop on what could have been a 50 yard TD WIDE OPEN at the 25 (but he is very slow and may have been caught at the 10 or so)
16)Q4, series 14, INT tipped by DL Rector who then caught his tip
