I figured someone would have started a thread about this by now.

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh has been suspended for the first 4 games of the season (East Carolina, UNLV, Bowling Green, and Rutgers) as part of a negotiated resolution due to recruiting violations and apparently being "dishonest about the violations during his initial meeting with investigators". Some current and former coaches will have some penalites as well.

NCAA considers lying to investigators a Level 1 violation. The initial violations were four Level II infractions for meeting with recruits during a covid dead period, texting during a dead period, analysts performing on-field coaching duties, and having coaches watch players work out via Zoom.

So what do we think of this? Harsh? About right? The NCAA isnt exactly the most consistent in their decisions. Any impact on what we will expect ASU's punishment to look like (doubtful since all the coaches involved are long gone). Does this investigation wrapping up do anything to shorten the timeline on ASU's investigation?

I've seen lots of reactions from Mich fans complaining this was way harsher of punishment than Tenn received for much more significant violations. But it seems the punishment is much more for Harbaughs apparent lying than the actual infractions. And being honest, is Harbaugh missing those 4 games really going to matter in the long run? Doubtful.
