Per Jon Wilner in his Daily Star Hotline article today in the sports section...

The QB Comfort Quotient (QBCQ) is based on this premise..."the backup QB is the least important player on the roster until he becomes the most important (when he has to take over the leadership of an offense due to whatever)...

As a result, the QBCQ considers the quality of the QB starter on each PAC team, plus the likely reliability of the backup QB to win games if for some reason he is called upon to be the QB...

Here are his rankings based on that premise...

1) UCLA - Bruins have a returning good starter plus four FR and two transfers, including one that played at Wash

2) Wash - Huskies have returning starter plus two returning FR plus a five star FR in Sam Huard and another FR along with a transfer who played at Colo St

3) Utah - Utes do not have a starter returning but have transfer Charlie Brewer from Baylor and another transfer from Texas in addition to a FR

4) USC - Trojans have a really good starter returning plus two highly recruited FR along with some former highly recruited players at the position

5) ASU - Devils have a really good starter returning as we all know but backups are a little suspect at this point in time

6) Oregon - Ducks lost starter to NFL but have some high quality players in the fold including senior Anthony Brown and highly touted FR Ty Thompson

7) Cal - Bears have starter returning but not a lot of quality back-up

8) Colorado - Buffs have plenty of candidates but no returning starters

9) Wazzu - Cougars don't have a returning starter and lost Gunner Cruz to AU but do have a good transfer from Tenn

10) AU - Cats have about six candidates for the position that include Jordan McCloud from USF

11) OSU - Beavers returning backup who started some games and some others including Colo transfer Sam Noyer

12) Stanford - Cardinal lost starting QB early to NFL and are predicted to start a true FR at the position with questionable backups

Any thoughts..??

I think we all shudder to think what our chances become in the PAC if JD isn't playing for any reason...

Do we need a QB from the transfer portal to be on a more safe side regarding the back-up slot on the Sun Devil roster..??

I'm glad that Finn Collins was able to participate in Spring ball as he showed a lot of potential but he is still only a FR...

Go Devils!!!
