Dick Tomey resigned from AU as its head football coach following the 2000 season that ended without a bowl bid when they lost their last game to the Sun Devils...
The Cats were 12-1 in 1998 and finished #4 in the polls...
He resigned at the time "because of the public debate" that was happening surrounding his job at AU...
He had three years left on his contract that paid him over $500K a year...
He subsequently negotiated a settlement with the university and left without too much fuss or bother...
Just wondering if you think that the situations are analogous in any way...??
Herb is making a lot more than Tomey was but the Devils didn't return to the Dance much less advance and they really flamed out again in the PAC tournament...
Now Markus Howard has de-committed to go along with the fan debate over his services at ASU as its BB coach...
Tomey took the honorable way out although he would've been fired while Herb will not be fired...
Is there anything positive that can be said about our basketball program right now..??
