Mornin Mates...

Today's Topic = Another Lame Loss

The Devils are off to its worst start since 1942, which is a very long time ago...

Yesterday, our OL was missing three starters and two key backups since the season started a very, long time ago...

And, our defense has not forced a turnover since the season started a very, long time ago...

One can also add to this lameness list the nine penalties we had during the game that accounted for a minus 88 yards...

With one penalty being for a player "targeting violation" on a fair catch punt, by one of our starters in the secondary, that happened after the punt was caught...

Another lame play involved our special teams giving up a 51 yard punt return when our coverage broke down and allowed the returner to get outside of coverage for the long return...

That play set up a FG for the Buffs that put them up by seven late in the fourth quarter...

Finally, in an inexplicable secondary breakdown, with less than a minute left in a tied game, we gave up a long bomb to the Buffs that led to their winning FG...

With virtually "no margin for error" in the game we had too many lame lapses, as a team and by some individuals, that led to another lame loss...

We haven't been this bad since the ASU Bulldogs went 2-8, 81 years ago, when they played in the Border Conference...

So, in that regard, we are making history in a big way and, if we finish without a conference win, we will set another record that will live in ASU football infamy...

However, Prime Time gave a vote of confidence to Dilly, who he admires and thinks will end up being a great coach at ASU...

So, there's that in the way of a silver lining, if you are looking for any silver linings for last night's game and/or the season...

In other PAC news, the Cats took the Trojans to triple overtime before they lost the game 43-41 last night in the coliseum...

They did it with their second string QB and a defensive game plan that held the Trojans somewhat in check a good portion of the game...

Ultimately, Caleb Williams beat the Cats, almost by himself, while the Trojan defense was again pretty pathetic during the game...

So, in my estimation and others, the Trojans, with that lame defense, is not going to win the PAC and/or go to the playoffs after the season...

My final question for today is this...

Will our Devils be able to win even one conference game this season or will we go 0-9 to set another ignominious record of sorts for our modern day Sun Devil football program...

Stay tuned...;)

It will be nice to have a BYE this coming weekend but I doubt that it will make much difference in terms of our ability to overcome our lameness at this point in the season...

G'day Mates and Go Devils!!!
