Mornin Mates...

Today's Topic = Trick or Treat

Winning sure beats losing, doesn't it...;)

The Devils sure gave us a lot of treats last night (38 points and 509 yards of total offense) despite all the tricks the refs played on us during the game...

Flags go a flying more than necessary, usually more against us than them, and confusion and chaos ensue, for long periods in a game, where the refs try and sort out what they are doing, at any given time...

Every game is an adventure with our PAC refs and it doesn't seem to matter what sport we are ever talking about...

It's truly like the blind leading the blind when it comes to the PAC officials compared to any other conference in the country, IMHO...

Wazzu isn't a great team but it's certainly a pretty good team that has a gifted QB and a lot of grit just like our Sun Devils...

It appears that they are in the middle tier of PAC teams where, in my estimation, there appear to be three tiers, as of now, based on what they've done this season, so far...

Tier One = Oregon, Washington, USC and, perhaps, Utah (although they are injury riddled just like ASU)

(USC hosts Washington this next weekend and Oregon hosts Cal, who snatched defeat from the jaws of victory yesterday in their game against the Trojans)

Tier Two = UCLA, AU, Oregon St and Wazzu...

(I think that by the end of the season that AU, Oregon St or UCLA could replace USC and Utah in Tier One, while those teams end up in Tier Two)

Tier Three = ASU, Colorado, Cal and Stanford...(don't think much is going to change in this bottom rung of the PAC)

I think the Ducks are the best team in the PAC although they lost on the road to Washington, a team that seems to be struggling some these days...

USC isn't looking that good but still have Caleb Williams as their QB that gives them a chance to win in almost any game...

And, Utah, who the Devils play next weekend in SLC, is almost as injury riddled as our Sun Devils, which showed in their loss to the Ducks yesterday...

The Cats are on the move as they beat the Beavers last night in Tucson and now get UCLA at home, Colorado on the road, Utah at home and the Devils on the road...

So, they could end up with a 9-3 record if they win their remaining games in Fisch's third season at AU...

That would be quite the turnaround for a team that only won one game in Jedd's first season at the school...

As a Devils fan, I wonder if we could get a similar turnaround under Dilly and his staff by his third season at ASU, especially since we will be in the Big 12...

Of course, the Cats have a president and AD who are competent and Big 3 sports supporters at their school, which has to help their cause...

One game does not a season make, especially since we now get to play Utah and UCLA on the road and then get the Ducks and Cats at home...

But, you have to give Dilly and his team credit for not quitting and playing with grit and determination this season...

Moral victories are nice but real victories are better and, hopefully, better days lay ahead for our Sun Devils...

It's nice to wake up on a bright, sunny day in the desert celebrating a win instead of another close loss...

Have a good and safe Halloween on Tuesday...:)

G'day Mates and Go Devils!!!
