I think it's fair to say that this year's results should have been in part determined by the talent accumulated from the 2011, 2012 and 2013 recruiting classes.

Here's how some of the better recruiting teams did this year- average signing day class rank from 2011-2013 in parenthesis:

*indicates coaching change

Alabama: 12-1 (1)
Arkansas: 7-5 (28)
Arizona: 6-6 (46)
Arizona State: 6-6 (43)- Jumps to average 31st from 2012-2014
Auburn: 8-3 (8)
Baylor: 9-3 (44)
Cal: 7-5 (24)
Clemson: 13-0 (12)
Florida: 10-2 (6)
Florida State: 10-2 (8)
Georgia: 9-3 (6)*
Iowa: 12-1 (42)
Miami: 8-4 (22)*
Michigan: 9-3 (11)
Michigan State: 12-1 (37)
Nebraska: 5-7 (19)
Notre Dame: 10-2 (11)
North Carolina: 11-2 (34)
Ohio State: 11-1 (6)
Oklahoma: 11-1 (13)
Oklahoma State: 10-2 (32)
Ole Miss: 9-3 (22)
Oregon: 9-3 (15)
LSU: 8-3 (10)
South Carolina: 3-9 (18)
Stanford: 11-2 (30)
TCU: 10-2 (31)
Tennessee: 8-4 (17)
Texas: 5-7 (10)
Texas A&M: 8-4 (18)
Texas Tech: 7-5 (32)
UCLA: 8-4 (22)
USC: 8-5 (8)*
Virginia: 4-8 (27)*
Virginia Tech: 6-6 (29)*
Washington: 6-6 (21)

I bolded the teams I felt were the biggest disappointments, and italicized the ones whose results impressed me based on where their current upperclassmen graded out as a class. Any thoughts based on this data?
