ASU fell in the second game of a three-game set, 8-4, to No. 1 TCU.

Ryan Hingst struggled for the second consecutive start, largely due to command. He lasted 3 2/3 IP, gave up four runs and walked five. Jake Godfrey came in and pitched well before a communication error with him and Lyle Lin at first (ruled at hit) and a gaffe from Andrew Snow at third (ruled a hit) sparked a four-run inning.

ASU needs someone to push runs through. The Sun Devils left 14 men on the bases, including a bases-loaded situation with the tying run at the plate in the eighth inning.

Other notes: Andrew Shaps made his first start of the season after sitting out five games due to a suspension, batting leadoff and playing center field. He finished 2-3 with a pair of walks. Jackson Willeford also made his season debut after missing time with a hamstring injury. He pinch-hit for Snow in the eighth, drawing a walk. He was replaced for a pinch-runner. Godfrey left his outing with a trainer, and according to the radio broadcast he was grabbing his pitching arm. Injuries have been a problem for the Sun Devils, and Godrey's stuff is some of the best on the team.

Rubber match is tomorrow at noon MST, 1 pm CT. Broadcast will be on Blaze Radio.
