Quick updates for tonight...

Those that attend will receive a 2015 Sun Devil poster (featuring some pictures of players and the 2015 schedule).

As was mentioned in a prior thread, Sophomore RHP Seth Martinez starting tonight for the Devils. Senior LHP Jeffrey Curran (0-0) going for the Sooners. Curran pitched three scoreless innings out of the pen last weekend on Saturday in a loss to Notre Dame. 48 pitches (29 strikes) through the 3 innings (4 ground ball outs, 3 fly outs, 2 K's... gave up a couple hits and a walk). Tonight, I believe, will be his first start for Oklahoma. Pretty good work last year out of the pen for the Sooners in his first year after being a JUCO transfer.

Oklahoma playing ASU tonight and then hanging out in the valley for the Big 12/Pac-12 Challenge this weekend (games spread out at various Cactus League stadiums against Washington, Washington St, Oregon St, and Utah).

While the Sooners are not currently ranked, they're likely a tournament team (as a likely 3ish seed). Most publications picked them 5th in the Big-12 in preseason content.

Baseball America has a brief article about tonight's game (and midweek matchups in general) up today. Pete Hughes is in his 2nd season coaching the baseball team. Pretty young team. But athletic and with some arms that can light up the gun.

Oklahoma players to watch:

Sophomore SS/RHP Sheldon Neuse is one of the best players in the country. Last year he was selected twice as the Big 12 Newcomer of the week, was Big 12 Freshman of the Year, Big 12 All-Tournament team at third base, All-Big 12 Fist team, Baseball America[/I] Freshman All- American team, Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American team, and the ABCA Midwest All-Region first team. Named the No. 4 prospect in the California Collegiate League by Baseball America[/I] while playing for the San Luis Blues over the summer. Also spent some time with the US National Collegiate Team. Unanimous Preseason All-American (regardless of publication) entering his Sophomore year. He's a threat offensively and out of the pen (low/mid 90's FB, very good slider and a pretty good change-up). Last year he played 3B, moved to SS this season. Led Sooners in HR as a Freshman. Started all 58 games. He'll hit middle of the lineup and likely close out games, as well. Drafted out of HS in the 38th Round by the Texas Rangers.

Sophomore RHP Alec Hansen - Had a rough go of it in his first start of the season last Saturday against Notre Dame, but big things are expected. 6'7', 235 lbs. Was a bit green last year as a Freshman, but did well over the Summer in the California Collegiate League. Can run fastball up to mid-high 90's, and apparently has been improving his command. Was drafted out of HS in the 25th Round by the Rockies.

Sophomore RHP/OF Jake Elliott - Appears to be Friday night guy to start season. Pitches to contact. Was excellent against Notre Dame last week. Good fastball and slider 1-2 punch when he's locating both.

Freshman 3B Quin Walbergh - Should have an impact as a Freshman this year.

Junior C Anthony Hermelyn - Seen as the best 2015 MLB Draft eligible Catcher in the Big 12 Conference. Broke out a bit over the summer in the Cape Cod League in 2014.

Redshirt Junior LHP Adam Choplick - Another (like Hansen) that didn't have a great debut over the weekend against Notre Dame. He's tall and lanky, and can run fastball up to mid-90's. Was a 32nd Round draft pick last year by the White Sox, but returned to Oklahoma.

Sophomore 1B Austin O'Brien - Breakout candidate. Apparently had a great fall, and looks like he could develop into a nice bat.

Junior OF Craig Aiken - Fast. Good in OF. Good on base/leadoff guy. He's their Sewald.

Go Devils
