Gonzaga has been to 12 regionals most recently going in 16' 18' 21' and 22'. During that time, the Gonzaga pitching coach was a name thrown around to fix what ails ASU pitching but he was never lured to Tempe.

The last time Gonzaga was swept in a Regional? 1981 in Tempe when Jim Brock and his Sun Devils beat Gonzaga 9-6 before going on to Omaha and winning a National Championship.

But, this isn't 2022, let alone 1981 and the Gonzaga pitching is rancid. They are just 2-7 on the season having been swept by a pretty poor BYU team in Spokane. Their team ERA is 7.04 and they allow 1.64 base runners per inning.

This is a chance for ASU to get some confidence and stability before they hit the road and travel to Tucson for a mid week game on their way to Dallas to play TCU for a weekend series.

It has often been said in football that if we leave the NAU game talking about "not showing the playbook" it means we are in for a long season. This is that type of situation in baseball. We need to dominate this team.
