Since we will be joining the Big 12 after PAC competitions end this summer, I'm taking a look at how many sports the conference competes in related to both men and women...

I'm doing this because most Big 12 teams don't have more than 20 sports in their athletic inventory while ASU fields at least a half dozen more so might have to cut some sports moving forward...

Both Texas and Oklahoma are counted in these totals but will be leaving to the SEC as we all know...

Men Women

Baseball (13 teams compete) Basketball (14)

Basketball (14 teams compete) Cross Country (14)

Cross Country (12 teams compete) Equestrian (4)

Football (14 teams) Golf (13)

Golf (14 teams) Gymnastics (5)

Swim/Dive (5 teams) Rowing (8)

Tennis (8 teams) Soccer (14)

Track/Field (12 teams) Softball (10)
(both indoor and outdoor)
Swim/Dive (8)

Wrestling (13) Track/Field (14 - both indoor and outdoor)

Tennis (14)

Volleyball (13)

Note: Big 12 to add two ladies sports in 2024 but not sure which ones they are but would guess we'd be talking about Lacrosse, Beach V-ball or Triathlon...

I've been trying to figure out if Title IX has any sports participation ratios in place related to men's vs women's sports, since it just says that women shall not be discriminated against in any college athletic dept (where the school gets any financial aid from the Federal government)

If both men and women get the same in terms of what scholarships offer then is that all we are talking about or is there more to that..??

I wish our Sun Devils all the luck in the world as they join the beef and potatoes Big 12 after leaving the wine and cheese PAC...

Go Devils!!!
