I am both concerned and optimistic about our DLine this year. I believe that D. Cherry can be a real beast, and with proper attitude, will be playing on Sundays. Smallwood is a nice player with a good motor, but more of a complimentary type (Don't get me wrong, I like him). But after that it gets interesting... Boateng has overachieved, which is a good thing, but many would suggest he is near his ceiling as a "situational" kinda guy. Big Mo is a total question mark and unlikely to make an impact, Wren looks the part but has not played and may just be a Tarzan/Jane guy, Dayries has played some but seems like "just a guy", Vi Latu has actually been solid on the line at times, although he is essentially a bulked up linebacker. The big question is Humphreys and Wicker, both guys came in with much fanfare, but can either realistically contribute this year on the DLine? I would think that Humphreys should be about ready to make an impact, no (there was talk of him switching to OL at one point)? Can Trammel Topps play? He seems like another Dayries to me. Lea seemed like another potential impact guy, but he is in doubt now due to his 18 year old idiotic behavior. I guess my question is where do the experts/insiders see that I am potentially wrong here (which I am totally ok with), or have I undervalued anyone, does anyone have any strong feelings about guys that differs with this assessment? I am hoping that we will have a little more of a rotation of scary dudes up front and getting away from the years of one or two good guys and just a bunch of dudes who can kinda play at times behind them. Thoughts?
