Stephen Berg was an ASU Offensive Lineman from 2002-2006, and started in every game from 2004-2006. Berg has been fighting colon cancer since August of 2013 and recently was diagnosed with his second recurrence since his initial diagnosis.
Aside from this being a very emotional battle, it has been extremely financially taxing as well for Berg who is the sole breadwinner for his family of 6 with his wife staying at home with his two youngest daughters.
While Berg does have disability insurance, the medical bills and a decrease in pay has made it nearly impossible to make things float. Berg is actually about to put his home on the market to pull out the equity to pay for his cancer treatments and all the expenses he is incurring by not working.
A GoFund me Page has been started for Berg and it is just a few thousand dollars away from reaching its goal. Thought I would share this here with ASU fans that would want to help out a former player in need.
