They were on the field A LOT (as they have been all season).

Coming into the game we were 10th in TOP in the Pac. We are now comfortably 11th (just ahead of UCLA) and their offensive guru HC).

We gave up a season low 358 yards (other than vs lowly UTSA....dead last Total Offense in FBS), despite our defense being on the field a season high 38:17

Very impressive (although undoubtedly enhanced by some of Shaw's questionable play calling as well as his overall conservative nature).

Chase Lucas gave up another long TD reception but you can't win them all. Prior to that he was playing his 2nd best game (behind UTSA) of the season with great coverage, impressive tackles and blowing up blockers.

Kobe was very impressive for most of the night in coverage and with 8 solos. But he is limited vs Arcega-Whiteside types (as is nearly every CB in FBS).

Merlin once again proved to be on his way to the NFL (Eventually).

Butler had another solid game for a senior (let alone a true frosh)

Jalen Harvey----had a couple of mistakes but he once again led the team in tackle and some of his hits were harder than anything since Simone. He did not wrap a couple of times but for a player that is playing in the 7th game of his career on D, it really makes you wonder what could have been.

George Lea--I have been down on him due to lack of effort.....consistently. Well last night he played the best game of his career (a very low bar). 3 TT, 2 solos and good effort.

Tyler Johnson in his first start actually played well.......especially for a RS frosh in a new position....but the 2 facemasks will cost him BIG time

Wren had a solid game, especially when u consider who he was going against

DJ Davidson had a solid contribution (and a mistake)

Fields spelled Harvey and tied with Tyler Johnson for the team lead with 2 TFLs. Fields had a mistake but looked the part.

Crosswell was a mixed bag with the big penalties (at least 1 of which was a good idea) but had 5 tackles and a TFL. He was beaten BADLY for a sure TD but the ball was thrown so poorly that he ended up with a PI. He is coming along and will be one of our best eventually

Bates/Forman/Slade/Adams/Kearse-Thomas/Lole all contributed while Demonte King had s quiet night (2 assists)

All that was without the unchallenged defensive leader in Spring ball, Jay Jay Wilson and without Koron Crump (and without potential starters Joey Bryant/Tyler Whiley and contributor Kyle Soelle and VERY little out of Malik Lawal/Doug Subtyl.
