It's hard to fathom that after a BYE week, when Utah lost to Oregon St and we were facing a two TD underdog in Wazzu, that our game against them was over by halftime, in a one-sided loss to the Cougars, at home no less...

Of course, this followed a one sided loss to the Utes two weeks ago, when we were clobbered in the second half by the Utes and the week before that we couldn't score offensively in the second half against Stanford...

As a result, it's not hard to come to the realization that there is something very wrong with our football program under Herm and his staff, at this juncture in his tenure at ASU...

So, is it the NFL model or the head coach or both or something else entirely..??

Additionally, will any real model work at ASU, that is a super large university, in a very large metro area, that has an abundance of pro franchises in every sport with which to compete...

Is there any coach out there that can realistically overcome all of the hurdles that exist at ASU with which to build and then sustain a high level football program..??

It's become painfully clear, at least to me, that Herm is not the answer, especially since he is the leader of a program under investigation by the NCAA for numerous rule violations...

But, where do you go from here when you have an athletic director that may or may not know what he is doing when it comes to leading our athletic endeavors...

For it was his idea to hire a friend in Herm and pursue a new model that thus far hasn't produced much more than the many coaching predecessors that have been fired by ASU for not producing enough while at the school...

So, maybe elevating our football program is Mission Impossible, after all..??

Although one would think that we had more than enough talent to beat Wazzu if we had played like they did...

As their coach - Jake Dickert - said after the game "we just played harder (than they did)"...

So, maybe we have more 4 star talent than they do but they had more 4 star motivation and attitude than our players had during the game and that was the difference...

We all know that Herm is a likeable, nice guy, who lives on a reputation that was built on celebrity, as much as anything else, since his NFL record was a forgettable 54-74 record or a .422 winning percentage as head coach of the Jets and Chiefs...

So, again, is it the coach or the NFL model or something else entirely that is keeping us from beating teams like Wazzu when we were favored by two TDs at home..??

In any event, given the backdrop of the NCAA investigation, it is definitely time for a change in our football program, right..??

Go Devils!!!
