I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy Hanukkah. If the Holliday Season wasn't what you hoped it would be, then I wish you a Happy New Year! As ASU football showed us this year, good things can happen unexpectedly. What a difference a year makes if you just keep going.
I was pleasantly surprised to see Navy beat Oklahoma. Although, here is a live look at jr high PE teachers in Oklahoma explaining to their students that Oklahoma won the hypothetical game per Kirk Herbstreit, Finebaum, and Desmond Howard which is more important than the actual game.
And here's a live look at me knowing he's right. Hypothetical games matter more than a team's actual record if ESPN gets their way. And they always do.
Make no mistake, ESPN and the SEC are planning a full court press in a month to stack the playoff even more into the SECs favor. But, not all hope is lost. Afterall, we've replaced Larry Scott with a commissioner that has a set on him and seems to enjoy disrupting the establishment. The success of his inevitable media campaign will depend on the ammo he has. Tennessee getting whacked is a nice headliner, but, Navy beating Oklahoma and GT beating Vandy (if they can do it) will give his argument some depth.
Of course, if ASU can beat Texas and Notre Dame beats Georgia then he's really got some ammo.
So, here is to SEC losses, to the under dog, to America!
Go Devils!
