I'll have updates from the media sessions of Bobby Hurley, Kimani Lawrence and Marcus Bagley. Those three are representing Arizona State in San Francisco today for the conference's media day events.

A couple early notes from Pac-12 Commissioner George Kliavkoff and Deputy Commissioner Jamie Zaninovich:

- Kliavkoff was positive in reviewing the conference's showing in last season's NCAA tournament: "We are excited about continuing progress from last season."

- Kliavkoff on "The Alliance" with the ACC and Big Ten says he talked with each of the presidents and athletic directors of the 12 member institutions and none found expanding necessary to meet the conference's goals. Zaninovich said the conferences have already begun preparations for promoting non-conference matchups between schools in participating conferences this year, even if those matchups were scheduled prior to the agreement in August.

- On the 20-game conference schedule Zaninovich says the goal was to "try to make those games in a tight window for scheduling, and to give us a little promotional vehicle.” He says coaches didn't want to open the season with conference games and they also did not want to pack them into the typical conference schedule, so that created the scheduling configuration which features early December conference games.
