After another Deja Vu weekend in SLC our Devils appear to be sinking while the Cats appear to be rising...
Here are the standings right now...
1) AU = 12-6 & 27-11 (they will probably hit 30 wins this weekend when they host the 10th place Utes)
2) OU = 10-5 & 24-9
3) OSU = 10-5 & 26-12
4) Stanford = 8-4 & 22-7
5) UCLA = 10-8 & 23-13
6) ASU = 10-8 & 22-13
7) USC = 6-9 & 18-16
8) Cal = 6-9 & 19-19
9) Wazzu = 7-11 & 19-15
10) Utah = 5-13 & 10-23
11) Wash = 3-9 & 17-16
Yesterday, I asked in my Walkabout what RA would have done with the baseball program if it were, hypothetically, the football program, let's say, under Todd Graham, who never had the worst football seasons in Sun Devil history like TS has produced and Todd actually won the South Division and had back-to-back 10 win seasons but was fired after six seasons at ASU because he didn't win enough, etc...
I know there are some people on this board that think the Devils are headed in the right direction under Tracy Smith and we should let the season play out but do you really think that this mediocrity would be tolerated if this was our football program..??
I don't...and I think that tells us all we need to know about where baseball stands with our AD...
Maybe Tracy will prove me wrong but I think the Cats now stand a good chance of hosting a Super Regional, while we will be lucky to sneak into the playoffs, and its very troubling to me that they appear to have surpassed us in baseball...
