Hey guys, ASU was back at practice Wednesday for the second time in preparation for San Diego State. Here's what Jeff Griffith and I saw from the final media-viewing session of the week:

LOCATION: Kajikawa Practice Field

ATTIRE: Shells

MEDIA AVAILABILITY: First three periods, approximately 40 minutes

STRETCH MUSIC: "Look Alive" by BlocBoy JB Feat. Drake, "California Love" by 2Pac & Dr. Dre & Roger Troutman

IN GREEN: None

PERSONNEL NOTES
--
Following the opening stretch period, we noticed the following players head into the bubble: Das Tuatalatasi (R-Sr./TILL)Ty Thomas (Soph./S), John Humphrey (R-Jr./WR), Ryan Kelley (R-Fr./QB), Curtis Hodges (So./WR) Terrell Chatman (R-Jr./WR), and Nami Tuitu'u (Soph./DL)

--After hurting his elbow against Michigan State, Das Tautalatasi (R-Sr./S) walked straight from the busses into the dome wearing a brace on his left arm.

First-Team Offense

QB: Manny Wilkins

RB: Eno Benjamin

WR: N'Keal Harry, Ryan Newsome, Frank Darby/Brandon Aiyuk

TE: Tommy Hudson/Ceejhay French-Love

OL: LT Casey Tucker, LG Roy Hemsley, C Cohl Cabral, RG Steve Miller, RT Quinn Bailey

—Manny Wilkins had a really nice downfield throw to Frank Darby on a deep post route. Darby had multiple steps on his man, but Wilkins led him perfectly into space what must have been 50 yards downfield.

Second-Team Offense

QB: Dillon Sterling-Cole

RB: Isaiah Floyd/A.J. Carter

WR: Curtis Hodges, Geordon Porter, Ryan Jenkins

TE: Jarick Caldwell

OL: LT Tyson Rising, LG Alex Losoya, C Jarrett Bell, RG Cade Cote, RT Zach Robertson

—Despite going into the bubble at the start of practice, Curtis Hodges (Soph./WR) got a handful of snaps with the second team. Hodges missed Saturday’s win over Michigan State. He had a really nice catch out of the slot Wednesday. Cornerback Terin Adams yelled to Hodges when he noticed the sophomore was lined up on the outside. "Ooooooo, Curtis has a new position," Adams said.

First-Team Defense
DL: Jalen Bates, Renell Wren, Shannon Foreman

LB: Merlin Robertson, Darien Butler, Malik Lawal

CB: Chase Lucas, Kobe Williams

TILLMAN: Jalen Harvey

S: Langston Frederick (Field Ranger), Demonte King (Boundary Ranger)

-- Cornerback Kobe Williams covering receiver Frank Darby but on the first play of 11-on-11, Williams was playing about eight-yards off the redshirt sophomore. Darby caught a quick pass for a few yards but Williams kept him in front. Cornerbacks coach Tony White yelled out his disapproval.

"No way he should be throwing that ball," White shouted to Williams.

On the next play, with Williams in coverage, Wilkins hit Darby for a deep touchdown.

-- Fresh off of being named the nation's defensive player of the week, freshman linebacker Merlin Robertson batted down a pass from Wilkins and came within a foot of intercepting it.

Second-Team Defense
DL: Doug Subtyl/Darius Slade, George Lea/D.J. Davidson, Jordan Hoyt/Jermayne Lole

LB: Jay Jay Wilson/Stanley Lambert, Khaylan Thomas, Koron Crump/Kyle Soelle

TILLMAN: Evan Fields

CB: Terin Adams, Dom Harrison

S: Cam Phillips (Boundary Ranger), Aashari Crosswell (Field Ranger)

QUOTES OF THE DAY
Linebacker Reggie Hughes knocked a tennis ball out of of the dummy it was velcroed to with a vicious hit. An onlooking Herm Edwards was very impressed.

"Fumble," Edwards yelled. " Ball's out, I like that."

That's it for today’s report. Stay tuned for more coverage throughout the week. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
