I understand this idea will be initially uncomfortable, but, I HIGHLY suggest that college basketball programs should
1) Open schedule the entire regular season
2) Seed Conference tournaments using BPI/RPI
3) Leave March Madness unchanged
This week
ASU: @ Cincy @WVU
UCLA: Iowa, Wisconsin
Stanford: @ Wake Forest, @ UNC
There will never be rivalries there. It is bad for attendance. It's bad for players. None of those games make any sense for a regular season. At all.
Football needs a conference schedule to determine post season. Basketball could have open schedules and seed their conference and national tournament based on BPI/RPI.
I'd rather ASU play UNLV and SDSU this week than Cincy and WVU.
