Despite the continuing blistering desert heat, the Devils football climate, in and around ASU, is putting a smile on Sun Devil fans everywhere these days...

However, the long-term weather forecast remains cloudy, even though the Devils are now ranked #10 in Big-12 team power ratings by USA Today...

Their next opponent, Texas Tech, is rated #14 after barely beating Abilene Christian and losing badly to Wazzu but coming back to trounce No Texas this past weekend...

Their coach - Joey McGuire (53) - was hired a couple of years ago, where he had been the Associate HC (and LB coach) under Matt Ruhle at Baylor, and then briefly became the interim HC at Baylor when Ruhle went onto the NFL...

Since coming to the Red Raiders three years ago, he has posted 8-5 (5-4) and 7-6 (5-4) records at Tech and in his first season in Lubbock he beat both Oklahoma and Texas...

Early on, before becoming a college coach, he won three state titles at the Texas HS level and had a HS coaching record of 142-42, so everyone in Texas knows about him...

The 10 day weather forecast for Lubbock next Saturday calls for partly cloudy skies with a game time temp in the mid-80s...

The betting forecast for the game has established the Red Raiders as a 3.5 favorite to win the game against ASU...

In addition to a partly cloudy day next Saturday in Texas, the long-term weather forecast for the Devils also remains cloudy at this point in the season...

For two of their wins have come against teams, Wyoming and Miss St, that are barely showing signs of life these days, which begs the question of how good those Devils wins were in the overall Big-12 scope of things...

USA Today has the Utes #1 this week but they travel to #3 Oklahoma St this next weekend to take on the Cowboys, while #2 K-State, that put a thumping on #6 AU on Friday, travels to #9 ranked BYU to face the Cougars, before returning home to host Oklahoma St in two weeks...

Would anyone here argue with the "cloudy" Big-12 weather forecast for our Sun Devils looking ahead to our Big-12 campaign..??

The good news is that we already have half of the needed wins to become bowl eligible and are almost to the over of our 4.5 O/U line before the season began...

But, we still don't have a clear weather barometer with which to forecast the remainder of the season, do we..??

As an aside, down here in Geezerville, we got some nice rain last night that is making this morning feel much more comfortable, just like Sun Devil wins always make me feel good despite the weather outside at any given time...

What is your Sun Devil weather forecast for the upcoming Big-12 football campaign...??

Go Devils and Beat the Red Raiders!!!
