Mornin Mates...

Today's Topic = Daunting ?

At the beginning of the season, once we reached November, our Sun Devils were going to meet conference championship contenders Oklahoma St, K-State and AU during that time span but only K-State has lived up to its preseason billing as a title contender, while the Cowboys haven't yet won a Big-12 game and the Cats have only won one conference game and have five losses, thus far...

So, aside from a road game at K-State on 11-16 and a home game against unbeaten BYU on 11-23, the remaining Sun Devil schedule doesn't look as daunting as it once did, does it..??

Of course, the problem with all that is that the Devils haven't won any conference road games, so far, and have to face the Cowboys, for real Wildcats, and Mild Cats on the road...

Furthermore, our starting QB is recovering from an injury, Dilly likes to take unwise risks during games, and our special teams are by no means "special" in any meaningful sense, if you ask most fans, etc...

So, for us battered Sun Devil fans and boosters, the remaining schedule continues to look pretty daunting as we get ready to play our final five games of the season...

We might feel pretty good if we faced the Cowboys, real Wildcats and mild Cats at home but we don't...

While unbeaten BYU has already beaten four teams, two in conference, on the road, and is looking forward to beating the punch-less Utes in SLC this next weekend...

They also get struggling Kansas at home before visiting Tempe and ASU on 11-23 and then get Houston at home to finish the season...

So, it sure looks to me that the Cougars are probably the team to beat for the conference title as we play out the remainder of the Big-12 season...

Not bad for a team that was voted #13 in the Big-12 by the preseason media...

And, out of the top five preseason picks, only #2 ranked K-State remains in the running for a conference championship, as #1 ranked Utah, #3 Oklahoma St, #4 Kansas and #5 AU are now all located in the basement area of the Big-12 standings at this point in the season...

Who could have predicted that at the beginning of the season and what does that mean for our Sun Devils looking forward to its final games in November..??

You tell me...;)

On another Sun Devil note, I'm looking forward to our preseason BB game against iconic Duke later today as Bobby returns to the school where he starred before entering the NBA, etc...

Duke is considered a Top 10 basketball team this coming season as are Big-12 teams like Kansas, Houston, Baylor, Iowa St and AU...

Talk about daunting when considering the BB teams in the Big-12, right..??

Good luck to our BB Sun Devils later today in Durham, NC, and to our football team that faces all sorts of daunting challenges facing them in their remaining football games...

Or, is it an opportunity to not only get bowl eligible but end the season on a big high note..??

G'day Mates and Go Devils!!!
