Today's Topic = Go Devils!!!
The Sun Devil nation has a lot to be thankful for as we approach Thanksgiving this next Thursday...
Our football team is now 9-2 and tied for first place in the Big-12, our Volleyball team are champs, and our Hockey team just swept Denver U on the road...
However, things are not as happy in places like Oklahoma St, Utah and AU, although the state of Kansas is a pretty happy place these days...
The Cats are licking their wounds and wondering if they can throw some shade over the Sun Devils season next Saturday in a game that Greg Hansen has always called The Great Eraser game for the Cats...
Hansen reminds his Tucson readers that AU has beaten the Devils five times since 2000 with teams that had losing records...
In 2001, the Cats beat ASU with a 4-6 record...
In 2004, a really bad AU team that was 2-8 beat an 8-2 ASU team and did it again in 2011 with another 2-8 team and then did it again in 2016 with a 2-9 team...put another sad face here...
And, the Cats did it again in 2022 with a 4-7 team...
Yes, ASU didn't have some good teams in some of those contests but Hansen is just pointing out that the Cats seem to be able to get it done against the Devils with pretty bad teams...
And, now here we are once again with a 9-2 ASU team facing a 4-7 AU team in Tucson next Saturday...
They would like nothing more than to spoil our season and will undoubtedly be throwing everything at us in that game...
That said, how about them Devils...a team that was picked for last place in the Big-12 knocking on the door of playing in the conference championship game with a win over the Cats next weekend...
Apparently, Dilly has a bountiful supply of Lucky Charms cereal in his kitchen pantry, although there seems to be some method to his game time madness, it appears...
As I've pointed out before, I'm an analog guy who wants to take the points when they are available and have always not placed bets on much of anything during my pretty conventional lifetime...
And, that isn't going to change as I follow my Sun Devils into a Maroon and Gold sunset some day...
Being somewhat superstitious, I'm tempted to get some Lucky Charms at the store as it seems to be working for Dilly these days...
Who knows, maybe it doesn't have much to do with luck, anyhow...
All I know for sure is that Dilly and the boys have established some real credibility for our Sun Devils football program...
And, for that I'm very thankful...
