Mornin Mates...

Today's Topic = Can money buy you happiness ?

Texas Tech seems to think so as they have invested millions on some new transfer players from the portal in the hopes of elevating their football program to the top of the Big-12 this next football season...

But, ASU, after investing a lot of NIL money on players for this basketball season, is not getting much of a return on investment, it appears, as the team sits in 15th place in the conference with six games remaining on its schedule...

And, our baseball coach is really looking forward to next season when he will have a full roster of players on scholarship that he thinks will bring more talent to ASU...

Both Ohio St and Notre Dame, who played in the college football championship game, had QBs that transferred to their schools through the portal and were paid handsomely for their services, but those schools also had the best talent money can buy for basically all of their players no matter what...

Dilly will not have all of the NIL money that Texas Tech will have to invest in players but he seems to have a plan that enhances his position with players but will that be enough in this new era of college sports..??

And, he will most probably never have as much NIL money as the top teams have in both the SEC and B1G but does that matter all that much or not..??

Auburn has become a basketball powerhouse under Bruce Pearl and the school has spent lavishly on his basketball program as a result...

So, as a hypothetical exercise, I wonder what Pearl would've done with the talent the Sun Devils have on its current highly paid roster coached by Bobby..??

It's part of the chicken and egg question of what comes first...

Is it the coach or is it the spending that turns things around..??

When looking at ASU football it seems to be the coach that comes first but will the money investments in facilities and NIL dollars, etc, follow enough so that ASU can compete with the big guys on a regular basis in the pursuit of championships..??

And, there is no doubt that Deion Sanders has elevated the stature of the Buffs in Colorado but should that mean that he should be the highest paid coach in the conference, like a lot of people think, including himself, if you believe everything written on the internet about him...

I don't know if all of these issues are related or not but even if you paid Prime Time $10M a year what would that guarantee, exactly..??

Can any school in the Big-12 spend enough to make it into the same conversations we have about Ohio St, Notre Dame, Oregon, Georgia, etc, every year when talking about elite football programs..??

It appears that Texas Tech has a boatload of money to spend on its football and basketball endeavors but will it be enough to elevate them to an elite status in this New Age of college sports...

And, more importantly, can ASU come up with enough dollars to elevate its football and basketball programs to new elite type heights..??

In any event, it's been a pretty good weekend so far as ASU baseball has come from behind in both games against Ohio St to get wins and Houston was able to overcome the Cats in McKale to win yesterday, too...

Those events yesterday made me pretty happy and I'm looking forward to seeing how all this money spent in college sports plays out for our Sun Devils in the future...

Well, maybe our baseball team can sweep the Buckeyes today and it would be nice if they could just not wait until the last minute to do it...

G'day Mates and Go Devils!!!
