Mornin Mates...
Today's Topic = The Bobby Crown Affair
This Sun Devil basketball season has seen a sequence of events that has led our team and its coach to Las Vegas for some TV created exposure for teams that will not be dancing this Spring...
The tournament will feature two automatic bids for teams from the B1G, Big East and Big-12 conferences that missed out on March Madness...
The remainder of the sixteen teams will come as bids to teams from those conferences and from other places where college BB is played...
The Big-12 NCAA tournament lock teams appear to include Houston, AU, Iowa St, Texas Tech, Kansas and BYU, with WVU on the bubble...
The old PAC has AU, Oregon and UCLA playing in March Madness or just a few teams compared to six to seven teams from the Big-12...
The SEC appears to have nine teams locked into the tournament at this point...
And, good old Grand Canyon of the WAC has both its guys and gals teams set to be in March Madness, as well...
And, then there is good old ASU on the outside, as almost always, looking in, this time from about the cellar of the Big-12 conference...
But, I guess their NET ranking is high enough to warrant a bid to the new Crown Tournament in Las Vegas...
There won't be any team participant money involved but supposedly there will be some NIL money there for some players who participate in the event...
I guess some of the teams that might get selected to this new event include bubble teams like Ohio St, North Carolina, Texas, Xavier, San Diego St, Texas, Oklahoma, UC Irvine, Utah St and WVU to name a few that could end up getting bids to the Crown tournament, that starts the end of March...
ASU is not a bubble team but Bobby is now on the bubble as to how long he will remain the Sun Devils coach moving forward, it appears...
A good showing in the Crown tournament could help him expose himself as a coach who might fit in somewhere else if his team, next season, doesn't do much in the Big-12...
It will be interesting to see who gets bids to this new tournament and how the Devils will perform in it and whether anyone watches it while March Madness is in full swing...
In other Sun Devil news, the hockey team advances in their bid to make the college equivalent of March Madness in their sport...
And, the baseball team crushed the Horned Frogs of TCU in a game on the road yesterday...
Hopefully, they can get another win today in Ft Worth...
I look forward to seeing how this Bobby Crown Affair plays out in the coming weeks...
How about you..??
My song for the day is...Good Golly Miss Molly by Little Richard...
G'day Mates and Go Devils!!!
