Timarcus Davis played FAR better than any game played by Chase Lucas in 2021. Led the team with 9 tackles. Had a TFL and an INT. Glad he is coming back. Lucas was not missed AT ALL but they only attempted 15 passes
Deandre Pierce followed up his his 2020 and 2021 team leading (by A LOT) missed tackles with 4 more vs Wiscy. Regardless of who it is next season, it will be an improvement at FS in both coverage and tackling
Pesefea played well with 5 tackles and a some run stuffing
9 of the top 10 tacklers in the game (a game in which ASU held Wiscy to 294 total yards, the lowest of the season for ASU's D other than UNLV and Southern Utah............and the 4th lowest amount of yards gained in 2021 by Wiscy...#19 Iowa held them to 270, #2 Michigan held them to 2010 and Minnesota held them to 233) are returning in 2021
Both Ricky Pearsall and LVBS (both slots) HAVE to be on the field most of the game
Walk-on Justin Collins nearly made one of the most boneheaded plays of the season when his momentum was carrying him back to catch the kickoff 6 yards deep in the end zone after Wiscy scored on their first possession. He immediately tried to turn and return the ball where he would have made it to the 5 yard line at best...........but the ref mercifully (likely stunned by the thought) blew the whistle (perhaps someone was screaming FAIR CATCH!!!!) or DOWN IT!!!..............and speaking of refs, in every single Nothing Bowl this year there have been nearly zero reviews and tons of mistaken call truly needing a review including a few tonight. It feels pathetic and organized....like "TV wants 3 hour max games, do NOT call for replays". Of all the games all season, the bowl games deserve better
If it wasn't obvious in week 1, BJ Green is DONE paying for college
ONL had by far the best game of his career (despite the boneheaded lining up in the neutral zone to end any dream of a wild last minute comeback). Will be a monster in 2022
Daniel Ngata equaled his career high with 11 carries (for 23 yds)
Hope Czaplicki is OK. He had a very good true frosh season despite 3 of the first 6 games where he struggled mightily. Logan Tyler had an excellent punt with no warm up
