Today a university committee comprised of both faculty and students (and probably other personnel as well) held a hearing concerning Davon Durant. This is the committee that will recommend whether Durant could be expelled or not. The athletic department isn’t involved with this committee in any shape or form.
This committee has three business days to announce their recommendation, meaning they have until Wednesday June 3rd to do so. That recommendation then goes then to the Dean of Students who has up to 20 business days to render his decision. So in theory, we may not hear anything on the Durant decision until late June.
As mentioned before, if a decision was made to expel him then that ends any chance of Durant being reinstated to the team. Hard to tell if the fact that his plea deal had him guilty on one misdemeanor will or won’t work in his favor in terms of an decision to expel or not.
If he isn’t expelled and if he he’s allowed to re-join the football team, I would certainly expect additional discipline to take place here. I wouldn’t rule out game suspension being part of the discipline.
