He turned them all down but not Texas because as he puts it "there is only one Texas and there is unbelievable potential here" after he took the job...
Texas AD Steve Patterson corralled the elusive Smart with a 7 year contract that fully guarantees the first 6 years, with an average compensation of about $3M dollars a year or about $18M of guaranteed salary...
Smart has coached at VCU for six years where he averaged at least 26 wins a season and went to five NCAA tournaments...
I'll be curious to see what both RA and Jeff Capel have to say about the ASU job if Capel takes it as expected in the next several days...

We were always viewed as a "sleeping giant" in football until Graham came along but nobody would say that ASU basketball has that kind of potential, would they..??
