The PAC staying together with a paltry media deal does not make any sense so it looks like ASU, AU and Utah are the most likely to leave for the Big 12 as things now stand...
The Big 10 exploring the possibility of adding not only Oregon and Washington but Cal and Stanford, too, would put that conference at 20 teams and would allow their media partners to televise their games from Sea To Shining Sea which would be a huge deal as they then would cover all time zones in the country and have teams playing in virtually every time zone during the day...(this as pointed out by Cowherd this morning)...
You could start watching the Big 10 in the morning and watch continuously for each time zone that follows throughout the day...
So, although you lost the PAC you would now have a Big 10 PAC Division comprised of USC, UCLA, Cal, Stanford, Wash and Oregon...(I don't think the Utes fit that mold)
So, what's not to like about that possibility if you're the Big 10...
Now, as far as the Big 12 is concerned, adding AU, ASU and Utah makes the most sense to me, at least...
They won't have the stature of either the Big 10 or the SEC but they could be the third P-5 conference in the land which, at this point, ain't that bad, if you ask me and others...
Where the PAC goes after all this is anyone's guess but maybe a combination of what's left over from the PAC coupled with the Mtn West Conference might work at a lower level...
What do you think..??
I just have my fingers crossed that by this weekend we'll be members of the Big 12 because, as everyone knows, even Crow these days, the PAC is no longer a tenable proposition...
Go Devils!!!
