STORY: Ballester’s aggressive approach nets him the lofty U.S. Amateur title

“I learned from them that if you want to win, you're going to bring it. That's what I've been doing lately, and it's been working out pretty well.” ASU's Josele Ballester's approach pays hefty dividends as he becomes the fourth Sun Devil to win the U.S. Amateur Golf Championship

STORY: Trials and tribulations have shaped ASU’s wide receivers

“The mental aspect outweighs the physical aspects. Adversity is going to get thrown your way, and your response is the most important thing.” Seemingly every ASU wide receiver has been presented with their own set of challenges that they are determined to overcome

STORY: Dillingham cites Sam Leavitt’s consistency, names him ASU’s starting QB

"To have the maturity and do some of the off-the-field he does is above par. He is dialed, very mature, and that’s a unique piece of him.” Redshirt freshman Sam Leavitt displayed traits that rare with most underclassmen and that aided him in locking down the starting QB role

Podcast: Will ASU cover the 4.5 over/under wins?

Went on the Take the Points show to talk about the state of the Sun Devils two weeks before the season opener and my thoughts on the over/under of 4.5 wins for ASU

Sunday Walkabout

Mornin Mates...

Today's Topic = Less Than Two Weeks From Now

The wait is almost over as the Sun Devils will take on Wyoming at home on Saturday, August 31st...

In the meantime, next weekend, Florida St takes on Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland and the game can be watched on ESPN...

There appear to be many positives coming out of preseason for our Sun Devils...

There don't appear to be many major injuries (knock on wood)...:)

The Plan A QB situation is still in place as neither Sims or Bourguet have beaten out Sam Leavitt...

The only question at that position is who is going to back-up Leavitt...??

It appears that Trenton has done better than Sims in practice, thus far, but the coaches will ultimately decide...

Dilly has repeatedly said that both Leavitt and Sims will play on Sundays in the NFL but many of us would question that statement based on what we've seen in practice, so far...

Another positive appears to be the overall depth at each position as we appear at least two deep at all positions without having much, if any, slippage from first to second team players...

Offensively, we appear to have an abundance of quality running backs and our receiving corps is in about the same situation...

Even the TE position looks pretty good at this point in terms of quality and depth...

Turning to the defense, we go two deep in terms of both quality and depth, with the linebackers better than last year and with the DL and defensive secondary looking like they could be much improved over last season, too...

On Special Teams, we should have a better punter but don't know about placekicking yet, IMHO...

So, if the offense can keep turnovers to a minimum and the defense can create several turnovers a game, we just might be able to win more than four games this year...

Especially if our special teams come across as special rather than as the disaster they were last season...

The Wyoming game won't be easy but we appear to have more talent on paper than the Cowboys and, if an Haboob doesn't show up to disrupt things, I think we should come away with a good, solid win...

If not, we may, once again, be looking at a three win season that won't sit well with anyone wearing Maroon and Gold...

One thing I'm looking forward to this season is seeing a pass completion between Trenton and his brother Coben during a game, as they both deserve it, as far as I'm concerned, having followed them since they played together at Marana HS down here...

What are you all looking forward to besides winning enough games to go bowling..??

G'day Mates and Go Devils!!!
