UCLA Baseball injury

Matt McLain, who is projected to be a top 10 pick in the coming MLB draft has been out for a few weeks with a broken finger.

I'm not sure if he will play against ASU in the final series of the season but something to keep an eye on.

Another interesting development for the Bruins. Their Friday night guy is Zach Pettway. Last year in the shortened season he was 3-0 with a 1.05 ERA. The senior this season is 1-5 with an era over 5. In his last 2 starts he's gone a total of 8 innings and given up 14 earned runs.

In April he had 3 starts in a row where he threw over 100 pitches and I wonder if he is just a little tired.

What does this all mean: ASU seems pretty set in the backcourt. So a bigger wing and/or a frontcourt player are probably the positions they are seeking to add before the season tips off. This isn't a bad team but talk about the need for a lot of new players to get on the same page and fast...

Baez propels Sun Devils to series win over Trojans

High School Jr's & G League

Curious to see how this plays out......obviously a Lot of younger kids that play in the G League, but hoping someone is doing a study for 5-10 yrs down road to see "where they are now" - https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...enderson-join-nba-g-league-ignite-next-season

Much as I enjoyed Darrel "chocolate thunder" Dawkins, pretty sure he was the exception rather than rule for success back when nba initially started taking HS kids............yes G league is different level, but still not sure I like 17 yr old kids going this route, regardless of academic concerns

Use it or lose it

less than 6 weeks til July 1st (the outside date for 2021 non-grad transfers to qualify for immediate eligibility

If we take a guy with 1 yr of eligibility it will not impact the 85 limit that we are up against for 2022 (and obviously we are way below that 85 that count in 2021....we could sign 10 more if we had that many Initial Counters available)

we either use that last initial counter on that guy with no downside, or we lose that no-brainer opportunity (my money is on a place kicker.....but realize that is a 1 in a millions shot.......as I don'r see any 1 yr DTs coming our way......hope I am wrong)

another option is to use it on someone like Geor'quarious Spivey (who could provide reps for 3 seasons).............or in a dream scenario we find another Conyers/Miller type with 4 years of eligibility (all of which WILL impact the 85 in 2022 but are as good or better than some otherwise potential replacements in the class of 2022 anyway)

in the meantime...........we are 10 days away from Tuesday June 1st when the dead period is finally lifted.................allowing for a flow of 2023 unofficial visitors to be treated like they should rather than as some random prep poking around the university and the stadium/Carson Center unescorted/informed (and despite the locks, the "talented" random non-recruit preps still get in....even during a pandemic)

.........not to mention the 2022 Official Visitors (hopefully not too many in the 27 days of June allowed but just those that we would definitely lose if we wait for Oct/Nov/Dec)

ASU Players' Position Rankings on ESPN's 2022 NFL Draft

This article is behind a paywall (https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2022/...thibodeaux-derek-stingley-spencer-rattler#pos) but wanted to share the various rankings involving ASU players per Mel Kiper:

Highest ranked player, not a surprise if you ask me, is Dohnvan West as the no. 2 offensive guard

Running back Rachaad White is no. 6 at his position group

Jermayne Lole is the no. 8 defensive tackle

Jayden Daniels is the no. 9 quarterback (USC's Kedon Slovis is no. 6 in case you're curious)

Kellen Dieschis is the no. 9 offensive tackle

So here are my questions for you:

Agree or disagree with any of the rankings?

Aside from Diesch, no one on this list of ASU players would have exhausted their eligibility this year. So, assuming these rankings don't change significantly in December and reflect the consensus among the feedback the players will receive from the NFL, should ALL these players leave for the NFL or should some stay in 2022?

STORY: ASU first FBS school to offer 6-6 OL Jagger Filippone

With an abbreviated and late high school season, it stands to reason why a 2022 prospect such as this player hasn't been discovered yet, which is the Sun Devils are for now the first major program to pursue the San Diego product

RA had the chance to fix his mistake!

And he let them off the hook...

I feel like going “Denny Green” in Him now!

Nate Yeskie was the move after building OSU pitching into a powerhouse and being passed over by the Beavers would have provided tons of energy, passion and desire for him to prove their mistake!

Now, the shrimp 🦐 🍤 in ratsville is harvesting our mistake again!

Just like when Charles Fing Harris told the rat 🐀 softball coach he was not qualified to coach at ASU... something you never forget!

Hey Ray, get off your ass and fix ASU ⚾️!

Other than CHE & Zeke, RA Coaching hires have been average at best!

Hate to say it, but ASU Alum & ex-rat AD Greggy B.has kicked Ray’s ass multiple times... wake up Bro!!!
