Transfer Portal Snapshot

Fresh off a historic Big 12 championship, head coach Kenny Dillingham and his staff did not have much time to relish in that achievement as they quickly rolled back their sleeves, seeking additions from the transfer portal. Let's go ahead and take a look at what the needs are position by position, the effect of the player departures to date, and examine the overall approach to the transfer portal and what we can expect in terms of the strategy the Sun Devils will employ.

Dead Man Walking

That would be AU football coach Brent Brennan according to virtually all of the sentiment anyone can see or feel down here in So Arizona...

Not only has he now lost just about every key player on the roster but fans opinion pieces are being published in the Daily Star and not as letters to the editor, either...

A long time season ticket holder had an opinion piece in today's newspaper asking this question "How do we make Wildcat football matter?"

This is one of the things that he points out in the article "I find myself longing jealously for the environment Kenny Dillingham has created at the School Up North."

His main point is that you have to get the right coach in place since a coach gets paid big bucks no matter if they win or not and have buy-outs in the millions of dollars that protect them from maybe losing a job, even when it becomes clear that they aren't up to the immediate task at hand like building a winning program...

This fan had a positive feeling with Jedd Fisch even when he only won one game his first year on the job because he was building a winning culture just like Dilly is doing at ASU now based on his above noted statement...

He feels that the prior administration at AU acted hastily when they hired Brennan and hopes that the new administration will get it right in the future....

I've never seen anything like this down here before which makes me more thankful than ever to have both our administration and coaching staff led by Dilly finally doing things right up in Tempe...

Chum is in the Big-12 water and the sharks are circling Brennan that make him a "dead man" treading water after only one year...

Anybody here got a spare life preserver to throw him..??

I didn't think so...Go Devils!!!

Best Playoff Teams Offenses and Defenses

This per USA Today college sports articles written by Shayne Kubas yesterday and today...(he started from worst to first)

Best Offenses
1) Oregon..2) Ohio St..3) Notre Dame..4) Penn St..5) Tenn..6) Indiana..7) Boise St..8) Texas..9) SMU..10) Clemson..11) Georgia...12) ASU

Best Defenses 1) Ohio St..2) Texas..3) Penn St..4) Tenn..5) Notre Dame..6) Georgia..7) Indiana..8) Oregon..9) SMU..10) Clemson..11) ASU..12) Boise St

Why Devils are ranked so low in both categories...high-end talent or lack thereof at most positions...that said, we are still a "force to be reckoned with" especially on offense...

Well we were picked last in the Big-12 and look at what happened...;)

Overall, I like where both Clemson and Texas are rated...

I'm just pleased that our first game is not at Ohio St, Penn St or Notre Dame...

Fingers crossed that we can prove everybody outside of our Sun Devil orbit wrong...

Go Devils!!!

No surprising departures in the portal yet

all very predictable

unfortunately 3 are very negatively impactful for 2025 (Welch/Wilson/Douglas) but barring injury, none of the 3 was expected to start...................although Welch may have if Shemari does not return and if Abney was moved to Nickel to replace Shemari

there are still easily 8-10 more that would not impact anything more than deep depth

and the BEST NEWS OF ALL-----all THREE scholi place kickers are still in the house !!!!
