First things first I am STOKED we are playing Texas. To be the B12 champions the year after ESPN moved Texas and OU to the SEC and to beat Texas would be incredible. No one can take away our title ever but this would be the cherry on top.. plus Texas is the "sexier" program IMO over a good Clemson team
Key # 1 Can we hold up Physically?
These are P4 football teams but this isn't week 4.. we aren't sneaking up on Texas. I would venture to guess they have have about a 5-10 LB advantage on the outside, a 10 -15 advantage on the oline and maybe an even bigger advantage on the Dline when comparing against our own players.. plus a speed advantage
We will need to hold our own.. not necessarily dominate or win.. but stand our ground in order to have a chance
Key # 2 We need to keep things in front of us defensively
We don't have a great pass rush nor a dominant rush D... while Texas has a great line and some fantastic backs. We need to keep the energy up and keep plays in front of us. Let them get 1st downs on us all day and try to make a stop in the redzone when the field gets smaller. Reality is.. we will likely give up at least 1 home run against them but if we can keep them in front of us and win an occasional 3rd down.. that should give us a shot
Key # 3 unleash a new offensive weapon
And my guess for this weapon .... Kyson Brown
My eyes seem to believe that Kyson Brown is the fastest player on our offensive currently with the ball in his hands. Now while he is not the runner that Cam is... an injection of speed would be a nice wrinkle against Texas. If I'm Texas I'm throwing the kitchen sink at Cam to make anyone but Cam beat them. I think finding ways to get Kyson the ball in the flats or perhaps some cross routes over the middle of the field while Cam is on the field
These keys go without saying... we need Cam and Sam to be effective.. Cams going to get his touches but I forsee it being rocky waters for a little bit before he gets anything going
I think we can win.. our path is a lot narrower than TX but we can win. If we can keep it close and somehow make Quinn Ewers win the game.. I think we can make him fold
Go Devils!!!!
