STORY: Sun Devils drop fourth in row, swept by Bay Area schools in Tempe

“We weren’t connected as a team, and the first half it was five individuals out there playing. You gotta be on the same page." Traits that plagued ASU previously came back to haunt the Sun Devils in a loss to Cal

NIL Collectives

Sorry for my ignorance, but has the NCAA endorsed the concept of NIL collectives? In essence when a fan or booster donates to a collective it still a booster payment going to the athletes. The NCAA has always prohibited this. Does the insertion of the collective alleviate this problem? Can a donor specify that their payment go to a specific athlete?

Report: ASU making progress in negotiated resolution with NCAA over alleged recruiting violations

Mentioned a while back and on multiple occasions that all the self-imposed steps ASU took were going to lead to a quantity and quality of violations that both ASU and the NCAA would negotiate and agree on. This in part can explain the delay in the sanctions' timing

Wilner's Take On ASU Football Schedule

Per his PAC Hotline Column in today's Daily Star newspaper that I shall paraphrase...

The Good
..."There isn't much folks...ASU's schedule is one of the toughest in the conference...the Devils will host both Utah and BYU that will help sell tickets but that's the extent of the favorable elements in their new Big 12 schedule"...

The Bad..."where to begin as most of the better teams in the Big 12 are opponents that include Kansas, K-State, Oklahoma St, BYU, Utah and, of course, Arizona"...

In other words, ASU misses many teams that would present the best opportunities for success and the stretch run with trips to Manhattan and Tucson is brutal...

Tipping Point...to the extent that second year coach Dilly has a roster that can compete for a bowl bid the key stretch will come in September with games against Wyoming and Miss St at home and away games at Texas St and Texas Tech...

The Devils need to win at least three of those games or getting to the postseason will get very dicey...

Beware of the Trap...the UCF game on November 9th that comes between road games against Oklahoma St and K-State (where both those teams could be ranked) might be difficult for the Devils to muster enough energy and support to handle this game successfully...

Overall Assessment...the Sun Devils outlook remains murky as the school awaits a ruling from the NCAA and Dilly continues to rebuild his roster and the Big 12 schedule won't help matters and just might slow progress...

I totally agree with his assessment but what about all of you..??

Our schedule does look to be daunting, especially given our current circumstances, so I'm not going to expect enough wins to go bowling but I sure hope that we do, on the other hand...

I'm hoping we find a really good QB to build the team around and that the injury bug will not debilitate an already fluid rebuilt roster...

I have no doubt that the preseason media projections will have our Sun Devils somewhere near the bottom of the Big 12 somewhere...

Go Devils!!!

STORY: Stanford’s zone defense thwarts ASU’s offense in loss

Stanford’s late 17-2 run over the last seven minutes was the true slow, painful conclusion in the Sun Devils’ 71-62 loss, a master class in executing a defensive scheme that was complemented by overwhelming length by the Cardinal

'Tough loss' to Stanford extends Sun Devils' losing streak

“I felt like we hit a wall. We were pretty stagnant. We didn’t create any advantages against their defense late in the game." A game that was a dogfight for 33 minutes saw ASU overwhelmed on both sides of the floor down the stretch, dropping their third straight

NCAA's sanctions on Tennessee announced

Not saying their violations are apples to apples to what happened at ASU. But maybe somewhat of a heads up as to what sanctions ASU can expect. Not having a bowl ban is significant and something ASU is obviously hoping for as well.
