Dino Nabers: New OC at UofA

Let's get one thing straight, I despise UofA as much as any one human being can. But, I have to give credit where credit is due. Babers is a solid hire by Brennan. Babers is a solid coach and solid recruiter. My question is who made the better hire, Brennan with Babers or Dillingham with Coach Arroyo?

What are your thoughts ASU diehards?

Hurley on upcoming opponent Oregon: 'They check a lot of boxes.'

Perhaps not so much under the radar, no team in the Pac-12 has been as consistent in their performance in the last decade-plus as ASU's upcoming opponent, Oregon. As ASU's co-leader in the Pac-12 standings, the Ducks once again will present a stiff challenge in Eugene

So Long Jim H, off to Chargers

Off to Chargers.........will be interesting to see how impacts Michigan roster, tho i believe a lot of the kids have been preparing for it and unless they make a terrible hire dont think nearly as many leave as left Bama, Washington

Sun Devil Science: A recap of ASU Football’s 2022-23 transfer departures

In this latest edition of Joe Healey's Sun Devil Science feature, he examines how the players who transferred out of Tempe following the 2022 camping performed in the 2023 season

STORY: Sun Devils get key bounceback win against struggling Trojans

"Certainly, the crowd helps so much, especially when we were really trying to impose our will defensively. That was really the difference in the game, our ability to create pressure and turnovers.” 13,743 in attendance saw ASU dominate USC in Tempe

ASU LB/Edge recruit James Giggey

This small school recruit I find to be very interesting. If he's a legit 6'4 235lbs, he moves around very well for his size. He was 12th in the entire state in total tackles regardless of league/division.

He flies all over the field making tackles sideline to sideline. Blocks punts and makes some nice catches from the TE position. Giggey is a guy I could see developing into the kinda player that Ward and Cooper were used to having at Washington State. Might take him 1-2 years, but if he never transfers, I could see him developing into a Kyle Soelle type or even end up as an athletic Edge.

Hod, would love to see an interview with this young man since he's a kind of under the radar signee we got in the '24 class😉

STORY: Marcus Arroyo’s Arrival offers new optimism for Sun Devil offense

“With his experience in the NFL, coaching quarterbacks and calling plays at that level, I think it’s a really good fit.” New OC Marcus Arroyo came highly recommended, and in turn, Arroyo is excited with the caliber of players he will have at his disposal in Tempe

In My Own Words: Markeston Douglas

As one of the best pass blockers at his position in the ACC, Markeston Douglas arrives in Tempe to prove that he can be the well-rounded tight end he always believed he could be. But his goals are not strictly personal, as he looks to be part of a group of newcomers that strive to make an impact in ASU's inaugural Big 12 season

STORY: Dillingham pleased with the depth and size added to 2024 roster

A wide array of topics regarding this year's team were covered in today's media session with Kenny Dillingham, all signaling positive change from last year

Sunday Walkabout

Mornin Mates...

Today's Topic = Sun Devil Hockey

I finally made it to an ASU hockey game Friday night at the Mullett Arena and it was a lot of fun even though our Sun Devils lost to Augustan 5-4 in the last 30 seconds of the game...

I was glad to see that they won last night 3-2 but I guess they are out of the hockey playoff picture, which has to be deflating for them...

But, they will be a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference, which many consider to be the best college hockey conference in the country starting next season...

It's amazing what Greg Powers has done with the program and I have no doubt that they will continue to evolve and elevate the program once they join the NCHC...

The Mullett Arena was great and I would imagine that it is one of the best college hockey arenas in the country...

It was full of Sun Devil fans who cheered loudly and obviously appreciate what the team has accomplished as a Division One program...

Our seats, thanks to my son, were front row on the ice near one of the goals were located...(unfortunately, the goal where the Vikings last scored at the end of the game)...

Talk about slam bang action in a very fast paced manner...;)

My wife, who is a big hockey fan, really got into the action and was disappointed, among other things, that the Sun Devil goalie was having an off night...

But, despite the loss, we had a lot of fun and, if we lived in the Valley, we would have season tickets, I'm sure...

That said, I liked the campus much better in the late 60s and early 70s when there were just a couple of laundromats and dive bars along Mill Avenue...

There are sure a lot of high rise buildings around the campus, especially near the lake, but there seemed to be a lot of empty offices, etc, there so wondering if maybe it is over built in that area...

I also didn't know that there is an ice-plex open to the public right next to the Mullett Arena where a bunch of people were skating and having a good time...

Too bad there is so much traffic to have to deal with in the Valley which is something we don't have to deal with down here in Geezerville...

I never thought that ASU might become a "hockey school" but if we can't turn the corner in some of our money generating sports that may be our only fall back position in the future...

If we get another dud as our AD that will likely spell doom for just about everything moving forward related to our athletic dept...

But, if we get someone who knows what they are doing maybe we can make a comeback in some sports that are under-performing these days...

At least I sure hope so...:)

In the meantime, let's support our Sun Devil hockey program as much as possible...;)

G'day Mates and Go Devils!!!

STORY: New DL coach Diron Reynolds brings a vast measure of credibility to Tempe

“It’s a great position to be in when you got guys and got bodies, you got guys that are eager and ready to train; you always want that." With over 20 defensive linemen expected to begin spring practice, ASU's new position coach has a wealth of experience to guide and evaluate this unit

STORY: Trademark suffocating defense key in ASU's victory over USC

"The spurt that we went on was fueled by our aggression on defense. It was a part of a necessary game plan in order to beat this opponent today.” Season highs of 22 turnovers and 27 fast-break points produced a defensive clinic during Saturday's afternoon's victory
