Perseverance pays off for McCullough

"When you are patient and you wait, good things happen. So I'm just glad I was able to be patient. I never got impatient." In a robust transfer portal era, ASU LB Caleb McCullough didn't seek greener pastures and thus enjoyed a career performance in a significant team win

June 9th Recruiting Snapshot

When you have the top-rated 2025 recruiting class in the Big 12, it should probably come as no surprise that many of the Sun Devils' needs for this group have been fulfilled. There's still some work to be done, albeit at a low volume, and some good news should be coming ASU's way this month, so let's examine Arizona State’s current recruiting picture.

STORY: Sun Devils aim to remain even keel as they embark on a long road trip

"We have a whole bunch of motivation in the locker room. We have a plaque that has us ranked 16th in the preseason rankings." Even though ASU is exceeding expectations midway through the season, they remain grounded even following a win over a ranked opponent

"Rising out Indefinitely" - Whittingham

In his Monday press conference today, Kyle Whittingham said that Cam Rising is out indefinitely and sounded like it may be for the season. He was even asked about Rising coming back for an 8th year with a medical redshirt. Wow! Like I said in a post last week, "if Rising is healthy, give him a few plays and he won't be healthy anymore." It appears he has a lower leg injury suffered against ASU early in the game. Side note, when asked about why so many missed tackles, Whittingham complimented Skattebo again, saying he makes a lot of people miss tackles since he is such a physical runner.

Local Radio

So I have the AZ sports app to listen to what is covered locally in Phoenix. I just finished listening to all of Mondays shows. ASU was mentioned every hour in a positive light. ASU was mentioned almost as much as the cardinals on each show. In my opinion the more they talk about it the more involved alumni will get in activating the valley and get more butts in seats.

The USC and UCLA boards are entertaining

UCLA fans are more depressed then we were 2-3 years ago. They see no hope with Foster in his first year and a five year contract. USC fans lament the lack of NIL funds even-though they go around and poaching kids currently at other schools and some are mentioning that they should go out and make a play on Dillingham. Interesting times as we finally have emerged from a dark winter. I wonder if they regret moving to the Big 10

PODCAST: ASU exceeding expectations at the season’s halfway mark, look to build momentum

(17 minutes)

Handling adversity is hard, but handling success is, surprisingly or not, is even more challenging. So, how does ASU make sure that a needle-moving win over Utah doesn’t become a flash in the pan? 1987 Rose Bowl MVP and the Sun Devil Network’s color analyst Jeff Van Raaphorst joins me to analyze the Sun Devils’ performance in the win over the Utes and talks about the productive mental approach that will be much needed for Arizona State to reverse the trend of subpar road game performances.

STORY: Handling success, effective road trip prep paramount for Cincinnati game

“We always talk about the process of how to be successful, repeat, repeat, repeat. If you continue to do that, you’re going to continue to have really fun moments. If you get lost in the moments, your fun moments are going to disappear, and then bad moments are going to show up more. So, let’s just stay focused on us and stay focused on the process.” In a 'What have you done for me lately' sport, ASU's mental approach can be the fine line between continued success or regression

ASU is 2.5/3 PT underdog in Cincy

Line seems fair (They always are). To be honest…I’m still worried about losing a close game due to our kicking game. But I watched Cincy play UCF yesterday and a few times this year. They certainly are beatable. They are certainly an enigma. Seem to be well coached. Nothing flashy. Just kind of boring. Keep the game in front of them. Minimize mistakes and penalties.

I’ll be making my first trip to the States of Kentucky and Ohio. Mixing in the Bourbon trail. Weather looks great and it seems quite a few fans are going.

If anyone knows Cincy and has recommendations- let them fly. Go Devils 🔱
