Mornin Mates...
Today's Topic = Draft-Less
Talent is destiny and those teams that had it, like Michigan and Texas, had a lot of players drafted into the NFL these past couple of days...
Unfortunately, our Sun Devils didn't have anyone drafted, which wasn't much of a surprise considering where we've been since Herm was fired...
However, four of his former Sun Devil players were drafted, including Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels, in the first round...
This is how each conference did in the NFL draft...
SEC = 59
PAC=43
Big-10 = 42
ACC = 41
Big-12 =31
This is how the PAC fared in the draft...
Wash = 10
Oregon = 8
USC = 7
Utah = 5
AU, Oregon St, Wazzu = 3
UCLA = 2
So, is there less NFL talent in the Big-12 than in other conferences, and, if so, is that a good thing for our Sun Devils moving forward..??
With Texas and Oklahoma leaving the Big-12 and accounting for about half of the conference draft selections this year, what does that mean for the new Four Corner schools that include ASU..??
Our Over/Under last year, in the PAC, was 4.5 and we only won 3 games, and our O/U this year is 4.5, but the Big 12 had a lot less NFL talent than the PAC, and when you subtract Texas and Oklahoma, the rest of the Big-12 only had 17 drafted...
So, I could be wrong about it, but I think this bodes well for our Sun Devils, under Dilly and his staff, moving forward into the Big-12...
At least, I sure hope so...
Relatedly, I didn't learn much from our Spring Game on Friday night other than we are bigger and deeper across both lines of scrimmage and have some good RBs and WRs...
QB will still be an issue moving forward but just about everything else looks to be improved and the same goes for the defense that is also bigger and deeper across the board...
We have also had a lot of recruits on campus this past week and I'm looking forward to see who of that group commits to being future Sun Devils...
On another Sun Devil note, the ASU baseball team has been hot lately and, if they win today, they will overtake the Trojans for 6th place in the PAC...fingers crossed that happens later today...
Finally, Bobby Hurley and his staff have been landing some promising players from the portal and he is being "innovative" in trying to leverage the Hurley brand through the NIL tunnel to donations...
So, a lot is going on these days within our Big 3 Sun Devil sports and, fingers crossed...good things will continue to happen for them...
Hope you all have a good week and remember that
Mother's Day is just around the corner...
G'day Mates and Go Devils!!!
