not much meat here but good to know that the P4 attended en masse with not only AD's and coaches, but school Presidents, etc ....... as much as I Hate Politics trying to govern college athletics, at least the conferences understand that making changes is well beyond their grasp and power, so appealing to what very few sensible political reps we have is probably sort of a last gasp

The good ol Gravy Train days of scholarships and tuition and training table and access to luxuries most students dont have access to are over and the new reality is $M$M for all.........and TV money/ new donations can only support a % of the new reality for vast majority of schools

And dont blame the kids on this - 90% of the kids understand bottom line and what is manageable/sustainable. The lawyers, agents and "family reps" are looking for their gravy train..........without huge help and oversight from a higher governing body, the next domino to fall will be all the Olympic sports, and yes that includes W Basketball as without having access to Denver's research am pretty certain they are one of the biggest Loss Leaders..........No way can universities continue to absorb the $$$M deficits from athletics

Fingers crossed there are a handful of smart politicians who are willing to work with P4/all conferences to provide guardrails and sensible "benefits" so we can continue to enjoy watching college golf, baseball, hockey, etc etc...........at the end of the day there is still one stat that says a lot when it comes to college athletics - 4-5 % will actually play professionally, the other 95% will need to find jobs by using their college degrees.......which are provided to each of them as part of their compensation

Reactions: Devil Dust

STORY: Trial by fire is paying dividends for the offense

"It was really challenging in the first two weeks when we were figuring out what we got. Now we're getting our feet under us.” A heap of new faces and facing a stout defense created obstacles for the offense, yet this is a unit that has shown marked improvement as of late

ASU's offensive identity beginning to show

"We had some adversity, and we bounced back. We’re really finding who we are, and I was really proud of the guys and how we bounced back.” Significant changes on offense caused a slow spring start but the recent positive trajectory has been undeniable

Baseball: ASU v UofA

Welcome to the best series of the season. Huge crowd at Muni.

After 5 it is 5-5 and one heck of an atmosphere.

For someone who has recently doubted Bloomquist has "it", I'm back tracking on that comment.

Bloomquist called for a hit and run that pulled the SS out of the hole and Jackson went oppo with a grounder through to get the RBI. The commotion caused the UofA LF to bobble the ball allowing a Sun Devil time to score.

Later that same inning, Vu pulled a bunt past the pitcher and into the 2B territory where the 2B had vacated to cover first. Fantastic job by Bloomquist to PRESSURE the defense. This is a perfect example of his evolvement into a college coach instead of a professional instructor.

I assume a lot of you are at the game. Couldn't be more impressed with the crowd.

Let's hope we can pull this one out.
