STORY: ASU bounces back in Saturday's victory to even the Utah series

"Guys came out with energy today. Arguably, today was the most complete game we’ve played of the year." Eager to put a 10-0 loss to Utah behind them, ASU used an early offensive outburst to cruise to a much-needed 8-3 win over Utah to even the series

ASU: Where sports come to die

Is that ASU's new catch phrase? Crow smooth talked the coyotes into playing at mullett with the ego driven belief that Crow could get tempe voters to approve the new arena, which he would then be able to move bball into, without really having to pay for much of the costs. The coyotes are now dead and moving to Utah. The Coyotes were hurting before they teamed up with crow but, once they hitched their wagon to crow, they suffered the same fate as the crow-led pac12 and the crow-led asu athletics: death blow.

Anything related to sports dies when crow gets involved. So, will the media and athletics world now start viewing asu as the place where sports go to die?

Devils disheartened in 10-0 loss on Bobby Winkles night

“It’s certainly a challenge right now. The adversity is punching us in the face pretty good." On a night when the program's founding father was honored in bronze, ASU stood firm in stone, humiliated by Utah in their series opener

ASU Baseball coaching question

I don't follow the program (thankfully), but it's clear that those who do aren't happy with how things are going. I believe that the last time ASU Baseball was great was around 2010ish? I know we were the #1 seed heading to Omaha and then went 2 and BBQ.

Here's the question. What is Oregon State going to do with their baseball program now that they aren't in a P4 conference? I know their coach is an OSU alum, but would it make sense for him to go to a school in a major conference? Or is there the NCHC (ASU hockey) equivalent of a conference out there that their Baseball team will join?

Just trying to wrap my head around their plan and their head coach's plan. While not the SEC, the B12 still has some great baseball.

Star Power Missing

Pro golf has a TV viewer problem due to the PGA tour lacking star power, according to Paul Newberry of the Associated Press, as many elite golfers have taken the LIV money and gone away

Viewers of the Phoenix Open were down a staggering 35% and viewers of the Arnold Palmer Invitational were down 30% and viewership for The Players championship were down 15%...

Why..??

You have a bunch of players no one has heard of winning tournaments, with the big names missing for the events, except for a few, many of whom, would not be recognized walking down the street the way Tiger Woods was recognized everywhere he went...

Fortunately, for pro golf, the Masters is being held this week at Augusta that features all of the big boys, including a past his prime Tiger Woods...

On the other hand, the women's basketball games featuring Caitlin Clark outdrew every NBA game and was only second to this year's Super Bowl in TV ratings...

She, undoubtedly, has star power, and also, according to some, she plays in a ladies game that reminds viewers of the past, when shooting, sharing and play-making were how winning was defined and not by dunking and fast break NBA games that look like a well choreographed rough ballet...

She has been mesmerizing the way Patrick Mahomes is for the Chiefs, along with a few others in various sports...

When is the last time ASU had a mesmerizing player or players that fans of all persuasions would tune in to see in its Big 3 sports..??

And, does that matter much in the overall scope of things related to any sport..??

On another note, these are some of the prices for snacks at the Masters...

No sandwich on their menu exceeds $3, a breakfast biscuit with filling costs $3, coffee costs $2, water and soda cost $2, beer costs $6, popcorn costs $2, ice cream costs $3, etc...

What were the prices for food and beverages at the Phoenix Open or at an ASU football or hockey game..??

Additionally, cell phones are not allowed on the course and it doesn't matter who you are...

As one fan told the press during the tournament yesterday...

"It (the event) brings you back to a simple life and how life used to be when you're not checking your phone every five minutes...you'll actually talking to others and it's refreshing" (my paraphrasing)

What I like about golf, too, is that there is no break in the action for commercials like there is in other sports...

The play goes on even during TV breaks and you just get back to it as it progresses...

Baseball is basically the same way, also...

The nice thing about having Sun Devil mediocrity for me, at least, is that there doesn't seem to be any urgency anymore associated with watching something live these days and nights...

I just tape the game or whatever and go to bed without worrying about much, like I did when we actually played for championships and had players that mesmerized me while watching them play...

If that's the simple life, then I'm all in for it...:)

Go Devils!!!
