Oregon staff focussed on recruiting

Who knows how this will play out but I would love to see these types of comments about ASU's staff

From the Oregon site....."The recruiting acumen of this staff will be unsurpassed in the modern era of recruiting for Oregon football. Even if we only looked at one or two coaches with recruiting prowess, it would be impressive. Instead, it appears that every coach hired has recruiting as a calling card. From Taggart’s energy, to Jim Leavitt’s dogged determination, to Keith Heyward’s long running West Coast ties,"

It goes on to applaud Salave'a's poly connections as well as others with recruiting strengths.

Taggart has offered over 20 Florida athletes since his arrival and while that does not seem to be a long term solution, it's not a bad place to keep a foot in the door.

As of right now here are the prospects I confirmed will visit this weekend. This list more than likely will change between now and Friday:

RB Trelon Smith - ASU commit

DB Brad Stewart - four-star Spur/Bandit prospect from New Orleans

WR Gavin Holmes - much like Eno Benjamin is a former Iowa commit from Texas, and yes he is close to Benjamin

DB Jaylon Johnson - a Utah commit

QB Commit Ryan Kelley

OL JC prospect Geroge Moore

DB Tareke Lewis - yet another Utah commit

Markus Howard off to a great start

Glad for him, he is off to a great start as a young Freshman starting in the Big East. Saddest part was how he emphasized that his relationship with ex-ASU assistant coach Stan Johnson was a big factor in his picking Marquette. If I remember correctly, ASU tried to hold onto Stan through the coaching change but he left anyway. Too bad.

Is anybody else...

being frustrated with the slowness of the forum page due to all the pop-up ads? My cursor is in a holding pattern for 5-20 seconds until the pop-ups finish loading before I can start typing again. I know you are thinking it is my ISP or computer but I can tell you it does not happen on other sites I visit and it does the same thing on my computer at work (don't tell anyone about that). This has been happening for many months but I have just got used to it. Just wanted to check with other members to see if they are experiencing the same thing. Or maybe it is just me.

Horrible Match Up

Arizona is the worst match up for us in the conference. Not only are they way more talented, but they will force us to make tough shots on defense while preferring a 30 second clock violation to a bad shot that might let us get easy transition buckets.

Down 20 at half. How short of losing by 35 plus will depend on how bad they want to make it.

Hurley Equals AU Basketball Villain

Per Hansen in the Star today as we approach our game with them down here on Thursday...

According to Hansen, AU has been waiting for someone like Bobby Hurley forever...Bill Frieder was too likeable...Rob Evans was too stone-silent...Herb Sendek was too professorial but now the Cats face the T-man, as in BH isn't afraid to get a T while coaching from the sidelines...he's already gotten several against the Cats and was even ejected in the game last year in Tempe...

Hansen is hoping that Hurley stays long enough at ASU to produce a Top 25 team so we can get the rivalry back in gear after all these decades...of course, we're all hoping for the same thing...

The Cats are going to pound the Devils on Thursday but if Bobby can continue to recruit the way he has been recruiting then just about anything is possible I suppose...

Anyway, we have a long ways to go to catch the Cats in basketball but it would be fun to watch the rivalry if BH can get the talent to play a great villain in Tucson...

Go Devils!!!

Former local WR to grad transfer from Oregon

Jalen Brown, a former 4-star WR from Mountain Pointe High School, has announced his intentions to grad transfer. He will be eligible to play immediately and will have two years remaining of eligibility.

Obviously I don't know how interested ASU would be considering how they currently sit at receiver, but it's worth noting that ASU obviously did pursue him out of high school. They didn't crack his Top 6 (Oregon, Oregon State, Vanderbilt, Ohio State, Wisconsin and UA), however.

His stepdad, Chuck Levy, did play at UA.
