Interesting Graphic

Saw this on the interwebs. Not sure which service this uses but if this map is accurate, the top recruit in each committed out of state in almost every instance, save for a few like TX, OK, NE, MO, AL, OH, and PA.

Still, even in football rich states, the top rated recruit left. California? Went to 'Bama. Florida? Went to Ohio State. Even the two schools playing for the Natty, their top recruit left their respective states.

Moral of the story? We're not the only ones apparently who have that issue of "building a fence" and should always take such with a grain of salt.

GK last night: “I wish it would have happened sooner.”

GK 5 months ago: “The longer we wait, the better position we’ll be in.”

Can someone explain how exactly this man’s any better than Larry Scott, other than not having the same name?

We can’t get out of this conference fast enough. What a joke.

In my own words: Champ Westbrooks

“I know they didn’t have a good season, but there’s no doubt in my mind that I’m at the right place. There’s a lot to play for this season." Incoming freshman OL Champ Westbrooks who will suit up at the All-American Bowl, shares his football journey and why he's a Sun Devil

Sunday Walkabout

Mornin Mates...

Today's Topic = Looking Ahead To 2024

What has you most intrigued and excited about Sun Devil athletics this next year..??

The hiring of a new AD..??

Our move to the Big-12..??

Football moving to a 12 team playoff arrangement..??

Finally receiving a Notice of Allegations from the NCAA..??

Finally receiving sanctions related to the NOA..??

Spring football, especially as it relates to the all important QB position..??

Winning more than three football games next season..??

Our baseball team winning enough to make the playoffs this year..??

Our women's BB team winning more than one PAC game..??

Winning an eighth straight women's national triathlon championship..??

This has been a dreadful bowl season that will, undoubtedly, improve when the 12 team playoff arrangement is in place next year...

When I was a kid growing up, there were four major bowl games that included the Rose Bowl, Cotton Bowl, Sugar Bowl and Orange Bowl but not anymore...

I give the Fiesta Bowl credit for becoming a major bowl game but wonder about this year's match-up between Oregon and Liberty...

But, they have become a player in the meaningful bowl play-off derby that exists today...

It's going on 25+ years since we last went to a major bowl and I wonder if it is now nearly impossible for us to reach the playoffs, moving forward, since we don't seem to have the wherewithal to get it done under president Crow, IMHO...

However, ASU hockey may actually become an annual playoff contender under Greg Powers, which is something we can all appreciate and take pleasure in, right..??

Men's BB apparently isn't going anywhere after nine seasons of Bobby ball and it's not going to get any easier when we transition to the Big 12 is it..??

But, at least, we are winning national championships in ladies triathlon where our women have won seven straight national championships in that event...

So, there is that with which to hang our competitive athletic hats on moving forward...

Okay, where do you all stand with looking forward to Sun Devil athletics in 2024 off the list I've provided above..??

And, have I missed anything..??

I haven't watched any bowl games yet (only highlights) but will watch Bama play Michigan in the Rose Bowl and Wash play Texas in the Sugar Bowl...

I like Bama to beat Michigan and Texas to beat Wash, with Bama winning another national championship when it's all said and done...

Sure hope and trust that Dilly and his staff will continue to fill some key roster spots in the coming weeks and months...

Happy New Year to all Sun Devil fans everywhere...:)

G'day Mates and Go Devils!!!

QB Questions

So, you are the Chicago Bears who have the first pick in the NFL draft starting on April 25th of this year...

Would you pick a QB or trade the pick to someone else..??

And, are there three better QBs in the country than Caleb Williams of USC, Michael Penix of Wash, or Bo Nix of Oregon..??

The Cardinals will also have a high draft pick in the first round (actually have two first round picks) and would they take one of those QBs, if they were available..??

Will Caleb Williams be the first pick or Michael Penix or Bo Nix..??

And, looking forward to the Big 12 next year, will Cam Rising or Noah Fifita be the best QB in the conference..??

Or, are there some other QBs in the Big 12 that might be better than those two..??

Jalon Daniels of Kansas comes to mind but is there anyone else that jumps out at you in the Big 12 for next season..??

Michigan is favored over the Huskies for the national championship but I would never count out any team that has Penix as their QB, as I think he is the best pure passer in the country...

I sure hope that ASU finds a QB that can elevate our program moving forward in the Big 12...Go Devils!!!

Five takeaways from another ASU halftime deficit comeback win, 71-69 at Cal

Halftime deficit comeback victories have been the norm under Bobby Hurley, but Sunday night's road victory in Berkeley still had some uniqueness to it as the Sun Devils completed a road sweep to open Pac-12 play

STORY: Five takeaways from ASU’s 76-73 comeback road win at Stanford

Winning a game where you led for the first time with just 32 seconds left in the contest exhibited a high degree of resiliency. But the Sun Devils' Pac-12 opener displayed some other elements in their road victory at Stanford that aided in halting a three-game skid

Bowl game rant

I haven't watched many bowl games for the past few years, because there are too many (Yes, Big E, I normally agree, more college football is better than less), and I haven't watched any this season. It is no longer college football. But, I did turn on the USC game, and off at the half. I will read my history book instead.

I don't care if players opt out of the bowl games, but there should be a penalty, if they do. I vote for having them pay back their scholarship for this year.

2024 OOC Football Schedule

CKD isn't catching any breaks. Our OOC schedule to open his second year does not include a true cupcake.

We open with Wyoming, who is always a difficult matchup (although playing in Tempe in August should help). The Mississippi State comes to town. The OOC schedule ends with a trip to Texas State, who just won a bowl game.

Going 2-1 in these three games likely indicates significant improvement from this year. This year's team probably goes 0-3.

STORY: Jeffery Clark recaps ASU visit

“Coach Dillingham, coach Amey, and coach Brian Ward; those are all my type of guys. I love their personalities, and are guys that I would definitely want to play for and go to war with." A Tempe official visit resonates quite a bit with Georgia State transfer Jeffery Clark
