Five Takeaways from ASU's 76-73 win versus Colorado

The effective soul-searching process that ASU engaged in before they began Pac-12 manifested itself once again, and this time in a close home win over Colorado, as the Sun Devils continue to be the biggest surprise in the conference

RB Raleek Brown

I was just looking at our list of transfers coming in from the portal. I really like a number of the guys we secured. One that just stood out to me is Raleek Brown.

With Skateboo, Kyson Brown and incoming freshman Jason Brown, what role do you all think Raleek Brown will play in our offense. Will he get a lot of PT? Is he good enough to start or will he be a 3rd back with his solid hands?

STORY: Ohio State kicker Parker Lewis returns home to the Sun Devils

"Coach Ragle has done it all and is so wise with his philosophy and how he develops his players. It really was all music to my ears. He’s the man which I trust him with my life.” Specialist Parker Lewis is elated to be part of the Sun Devils and is excited about ASU's direction

Hawaii offensive tackle Josh Atkins commits to ASU

"They got a good thing going on there, and we’re headed in the right direction." Hawaii offensive tackle Josh Atkins discusses his pledge to the Sun Devils

ASU players in the Pro Football HOF

It absolutely shocks me how many ex-ASU players are in the HOF and in contention currently. With two alumni this year named a finalist and Terrell Suggs going to make it at some point, ASU can have up to 8 alumni in the pro football HOF. I think this will put them in the top 5 of all NCAA schools. Does this shock anybody? ASU has a good football history and really is a sleeping giant. Love the recruiting cycle this year and lets keep it going!

BREAKING: 2024 four-star Seattle RB Jason Brown commits to ASU

“The attitude of the team approaching next season stood out to me. I like the opportunity to be a part of something that's rebuilding with guys that are really invested and who want to be there.”

STORY: Sun Devils' win over Utah marks Hurley's first ever 3-0 Pac-12 start

"I thought maybe our cleanest, best performance of the season on offense especially. It was a great team win." Many ASU wins tend to be the white knuckle classic, but the 82-70 victory over Utah was devoid of that drama and presented a well-rounded high level of play

Final PAC Football Grades

Per Jon Wilner in his PAC Hotline article this morning...

A+ Grades = Washington and Arizona

The Huskies were expected to do big things but not the Cats...

The Cats lost two games in OT...Miss St and USC...so were that close to having a 12-1 season...

A- Grade = Oregon

Big things were expected of the Ducks and if it weren't for the Huskies they would've been in the playoffs...

B+ Grade = Utah

Despite not having Cam Rising at QB and suffering a slew of injuries to many key players, Whittingham still managed to get 8 wins out of the Utes...

B Grade = Oregon St

A tale of two seasons for the Beavers...the first 10 games featured an 8-2 team ranked #11 in the country...the last three featured a two point loss to Wash, Jonathan Smith left for Mich St and the Beavers without their QBs and several other players lost badly to Notre Dame in their bowl game...

B- Grade = Cal

Bears went from horrible to pretty decent once November came around and they had a new QB running the show...

C+ Grade = ASU

Started off season with a bowl ban and injuries to key players, to an already flawed roster, so season wasn't that bad under the circumstances...

C Grade = UCLA

For the second season in a row a soft initial schedule masked many flaws that showed up in November...

C Grade = Colorado

"Push the pomp aside and there wasn't much substance to the Buffs season"...

C - Grade = Stanford

New coach Troy Taylor didn't have the personnel to do much in the PAC and still has a massive rebuilding job ahead of him...

C- Grade = Wazzu

Cougars started strong but finished horribly and now are in never land with Oregon St in the PAC...

F Grade = USC

Lousy defense and offense was less than elite even with a Heisman Trophy QB leading the way so, despite 8 wins, the season was an abject failure...

BTW...speaking of defenses, Brian Kelly at LSU fired not only his DC but his entire defensive staff after the season...you don't produce and its adios time in the SEC, apparently...

I don't have any problems with Wilner's grades but how about you..??

Go Devils!!!

On Ty Thompson

Talked to a few folks this afternoon about the possibility of the Oregon QB coming home to ASU if and when he entered the portal (as of the moment of me writing this he is not in the portal) but the fact that Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel committed to Oregon is obviously not a move that would entice Thompson to stay in Eugene.

As we know, Thompson prepped locally at Gilbert Mesquite and obviously was coached by Kenny Dillingham at Oregon in 2022. I'm not saying these two factors make ASU the favorite to land him but the Sun Devils are definitely a school that is going to be in the mix.

Reportedly the NIL amount should not be a showstopper to land Thompson. But needless to say, the bigger issue here is if you do land Thompson who has two more years of eligibility left are you basically resigning to the fact that this will (likely) prompt Jaden Rashada to leave? And does Dillingham want to roll the dice doing this move?

I'm not implying that Dillingham has lost confidence in rashada but he also knows that Thompson even though he doesn't have tons of playing experience since arriving at Oregon, is overall a more seasoned quarterback.

Once Thompson enters the portal, we can see if Arizona State is a school that he visits in short order or not. But like I said, there's a lot to consider here.
