STORY: Jaren Hamilton aims to bolster Sun Devils' aerial attack

“I feel like when I'm on the field, there's nothing that I can't do, being the guy that can be relied on and showing my capabilities every day.” In the search of ASU's No. 2 wide receiver Jaren Hamilton has shown that he's ready to assume that role

Baseball: #22 ASU @ #74 Cincy

ASU travels to Cincy this weekend for a 3 game series.

The Bearcats offense is #151 in the nation averaging 6.7 runs per game. They are #62 giving up just 5.3 runs per game.

ASU stays out east for a Monday game against Purdue.

Website Warren Nolan predicts ASU will lose 3 of 4.

Friday/Sat the temps will be in the 40s with 10+ mph winds. Not exactly ideal for the Devils while Cincy has a roster stacked with Rust Belt Boys who grew up in this.

Plenty of excuses available for ASU if they need them. Long travel, cold, windy, humid, small crowd, non blue blood opponent that is 11-2 at home. It would be understandable if the Devils show up flat considering the circumstances.

But it would be a hell of a statement if the boys stepped off that bus and kicked the ever loving dog crap out of the Rust Belt Kitties.

Sunday Walkabout

Mornin Mates...

Today's Topic = No One Is Bigger Than Our Program...

That's what the UTenn football coach had to say about his FR QB whose NIL deal with the Vols sparked an NCAA investigation...

But, Nico Iamaleava, was a hold out over the Vols spring practice, as he wanted an even bigger NIL deal from the Vols moving forward, that makes the investigation academic, apparently, since he appears headed for the transfer portal...

And, he is, undoubtedly, headed for the Spring Transfer Portal window that starts this week on April the 16th and goes to April 25th...

As we all know, UTenn has plenty of money with which to pay multi-million dollar fines to the NCAA and plenty of money to pay players in all of their sports through NIL deals...

But, I guess, they decided they had to draw the line somewhere and they were not into being coerced into paying something akin to blackmail for Nico's services any more...

So, that leads some to speculate that the Vols will come after Sam Leavitt with some outrageous NIL deal, given his elite status these days in college football...

Of course they will, so we'll see what Dilly's culture can do to make sure he will continue playing for the Sun Devils this next season...

The Vols wallet is much fatter than the Devils and what we consider a lot, they consider chump change...

So, what are the odds that the Devils Dilly culture will be enough to keep Sam a Sun Devil this next season..??

Speaking of ASU athletic cultures, I wonder where the Bobby culture in basketball will end up being once he fills out his roster this Spring...

Of course, many fans aren't sure what the Bobby culture is all about for the most part, if you ask me...;)

Is it all about the team coming first or about individuals taking care of their business first on the court in a free wheeling fashion..??

It's more involved than that but Dilly's program looks organized around a team concept while we're not so sure about Bobby's program...

Additionally, we aren't too sure about many things related to Bobby's future, either...

And, for some of us, we aren't too sure what to make of Willie's Sun Devil baseball program, as well...;)

They seem to be doing okay but they aren't setting the world on fire either as they fritter away games right and left in their quest to make the playoffs this season...

So, from my vantage point, there is a lot to look forward to this Spring...:)

Will Sam Leavitt remain a Sun Devil or pivot to another school chasing those enormous NIL dollars..??

Will Bobby get enough transfer portal talent to make the Devils competitive in the Big-12 next season..??

And, will Willie's baseball crew win enough games to make the playoffs this year..??

Stay tuned...

G'day Mates and Go Devils!!!

Arizona State's bullpen couldn't hold firm in the late innings in two of the three road games at Cincinnati as the Sun Devils' generally formidable performance at the plate isn't complemented by its defense

Tennessee QB Fiasco

unfortunately the New Reality stories like this hitting us more and more........this kid signed his "contract" in high school, received $$ while still in HS, so obviously his expectations not normal compared to the rest of us..........$8M contract, making $2M+ per yr, and wanted more???

To my note smells of dad/agent comparing his $ to others and saying "time to renegotiate"..........sad that he would not return calls to the HCoach leading up to his decision to leave, just shows you kid far more invested in himself than the team, so for me kudos to Tennessee

Yes he will find someone who will show him the money, but just shows that the need for a college athletics unified front is going to be increasingly important moving forward, or the system will collapse short of 20-30 programs.....and if that happens well only the crazies will be left around to watch what use to be the best game in town!

a lot of good info in this story - his reps had reached out to Oregon BEFORE spr ball even started......

"You never know if somebody chooses to come to Arizona State or chooses to go to college just because of that one moment.” A full team participation in Pat's Run is embraced by all who were involved

"I wanted to go to a school where I know they believe in me and knows what I'm capable of doing." Arizona State's latest transfer addition, Bryce Ford, represents a homecoming, too

Experienced defense sets the bar for the Sun Devils

“We have a veteran group. We’re always trying to strive more than the year before." There is no substitute for experience, and ASU's stout defensive performance in the spring is living proof of that every day in practice

Coaches call for growth on defense, establishing playmakers on offense

“We’re trying to put a lot of pressure on our older guys and returners. We’re past the midway point; all this is now is just cleaning up.” Experience level is dictating ASU's staff approach in terms of the demands and expectations of their roster
