There has been a lot of skepticism around the game of college football lately. Many of us have this fear that programs like ASU will be ruined because of the P2 money grab, the fall of the Pac 12, media deals, NIL etc. While there is no doubt that things are different, they might be as good as ever.

I'm looking around college football right now:
  • Army is undefeated
  • NFL draft picks #1, #2, and #3 are projected to come from the Big 12
  • The top 3 Heisman odds right now belong to players in the Big 12, Mountain West, and ACC
  • New Mexico fans just rushed the field, like ASU fans did earlier
  • It feels good to be a Sun Devil right now
I'm not old enough to remember the 70s or 80s but this is sure a whole hell of a lot better than anything since 1997.

That's my perspective. What is yours?

STORY: Sun Devils survive a surprise test at home

“I think we, as a team, came together and figured it out. It just happens, playing with all new guys. It’s going to take some time." Improved chemistry not only showed up in the last three games prior to the St. Thomas contest but also in a win over a stubborn foe

Athleticism helps ASU overtake St. Thomas

"They played a lot of small lineups, so we tried to make a concerted effort to go inside and attack the paint." St. Thomas presented the type of opponent that forced ASU not to over rely on their jump shots, as the Sun Devils proved effective with their aggressiveness

Newcomer Report: Kansas State Game

The Sun Devils achieved their most notable win of the 2024 campaign in a 24-14 road victory against Kansas State. Now ranked for the first time this season in the AP Top 25 poll, No.21 Arizona State’s implausible season wouldn’t have been possible without successful execution from the newcomers. The new additions shined once again in Manhattan. Let's take a look at their performances.

ASU at Kansas State Postgame Thoughts

As ASU head coach Kenny Dillingham said earlier in the season, the Big 12 is the "Can you believe that score?" conference. And on Saturday night, the Sun Devils got to exemplify what has been the DNA of this league, traveling to Manhattan and upsetting No. 16 Kansas State 24-14. Ironically, compared to its Big 12 games, when ASU faced its stiffest competition to date, it overwhelmed the Wildcats from the opening kickoff and never looked back in victory.

"We talk about almost every single rep, so when you get in the game, and then you see a look, he knows exactly what I want." A formidable connection between QB Sam Leavitt and WR Jordyn Tyson has been a common sight in recent weeks

STORY: Sun Devils land 2025 Texas WR Harry Hassmann

“I have a really good relationship with Hines Ward. He is one of the best receivers to ever do it, and I'm going to be able to learn a lot from him. He's been to where I want to be in the NFL, has a lot of knowledge, football-wise and life-wise, and he takes no BS." ASU's WR commit Harry Hassmann discusses his pledge

Big 12 Preview: BYU @ ASU week (survive and advance)

As we can see the Big 12 still has remaining
BYU: 39%
Colorado: 36%
ASU: 16%
Iowa State: 10%

Noticeably missing from the list of teams with a chance are the 2 Universities that destroyed the Pac 12
USC: 0%
UCLA: 0%
Both are just 3-5 in the Big 10 this season showing that while money may buy happiness, it doesn't buy wins.

Also missing are the 2 left out showing that if you aint got no money take your broke a** home
Oregon State: 0%
Washington State: 0%

There was a years long debate amongst ASU fans asking if it was better to be a small fish in a big pond, or a big fish in a small pond. 10 games into the Big 12 Brett Yormark asks Sun Devil Nation:

Of course the prize of the college football playoff isn't so much a pond as it is a dark ocean filled with sharks and bad intentions.

Whichever side of the pond argument you find yourself on, the task at hand is ASU finds itself hosting a game against a top 15 team that we can legitimately stand toe to toe with. The country will be watching. Tickets start at $230. The stadium will be sold out.

Get there early, be loud, and represent ASU! I won't be there and am jealous of those of you who will be. If you are at the house or at the game, send some text messages to the boys this week. Get em excited. Activate the valley!

Go Devils!

Would Arizona State make the playoff as a Big 12 Champ?

The top 5 conference champions get a playoff spot.
Locks
1) Big 10
2) SEC

Very Likely
3) ACC: Miami and SMU (both with just 1 loss) seem to be on a collision course for the ACC championship game with the winner locking up a bid
4) MW: Boise State's only loss on the year was a 1 point loss at Oregon. They finish out the season with easy games against Wyoming and Oregon State then likely play a tough UNLV team for the MW championship in Boise.

Up for Grabs
5) A 2 loss ASU then has to make its case against the American Athletic champion which would be Army or Tulane. Both are ranked in the top 25. Army is probably going to get smashed by Notre Dame next week but that leaves them with just 1 loss. If they run the table after that then they have a compelling case. Tulane only has Memphis left and then Army. I think ASU probably gets in over both, but a 1 loss Army is a threat for sure.
