Interesting note on Big 12 Pro Day

First, ASU will have its Pro Day on Wed., march 13th. Don't have any more details on this yet, but we'll be there to cover it.

And with the transition to the Big 12, this may be one more of the "last ever" things to happen because the Big 12 as a conference Pro Day so there own' be individual events on campuses. New format that begins this year by the way

STORY: Bullpen holds firm as Sun Devils rally to Friday win over Oregon

“We’re facing good arms and good teams. We’ve got to be ready to have a dogfight for 27 outs.” ASU’s valuable learning experience from losing three games to Top 10 teams helped create a winning recipe in a walk-off victory over Oregon

Baseball vs Oregon

Quick preview of Devils vs Oregon on the ball field this weekend

* Ducks are 9-3 so far, with big wins over Okie, Baylor, and 2 over our Gr CAnyon Antelopes........S Barbara won 2-3 @ Oregon......they played ranked Tx TEch tough, hammered louis lafayette in 4 games
* Pre Season all Pac players include LHP Grayson Grinsell (dont like seeing LHP); RHP Logan Mercado; Infielder Jacob Walsh
* 7 starters hitting .300+, and 4 players with 3+ HR's
* Mercado has a 1.23 ERA in 7 innings, Grinsell a 5.00era in 10 innings, and RJ Gordon a 3.60era in 15innings

Not much data to look @ after on 12 games against a few good teams........S barbara is actually ranked #25 but outside of ORegon has played a bad schedule so not sure what to make of them beating ducks 2 of 3

Should be a good series, think having McClain back with 4 games under his belt is really going to be a + for us, and think Willie has figured out his middle relief guys, setup guys and obviously Cole Carlon @ Closer...... i have all the confidence in the world on T Burns, our frid nite pitcher.........Markl has pitched much better last 2 times out against decent competition, but Tyler Meyer needs to improve now that he has 3 starts under his belt......has 11 walks in 8 inn's, so hopefully can regain his control and start to challenge the hitters

OT- Contact with Alumni Band

Good Day fellow Huddlers,

I have a buddy whose brother sadly and tragically passed away unexpectedly this week. He reached out to me as the former president of the San Antonio Alumni chapter to see if I had any contacts with anyone from the alumni band. I was able to point him in a couple of directions but sadly we seem to have not made much progress.

He's trying to reach out to someone to see if they (or at least a few of their members) would be willing to play the Fight Song and/or the Alma Matter at his funeral service. Obviously time would be of the essence for that reason. If anyone knows someone would you mind reply here or shooting me a PM?

Thanks!!

Former ASU OC Zak Hill resigns as head football coach at Scottsdale Saguaro

He will be an administrator at American Leadership Academy Gilbert North and part of the athletic director's duties. He will also help out Ty Detmer, who left ALA Queen Creek as head football coach to lead the ALA Gilbert North football program.

Hill cites proximity to his home as the reason for this, but there's no doubt that he will receive a nice bump in salary too. Suffice to say it that the chances of him getting a show clause that will delay his return to college coaching are high, so he might as well enjoy a higher salary than he was in the meantime.

Scouting Report: USC

In its quest to build positive momentum for the Pac-12 Tournament, ASU meets a USC squad that has won eight of their last 11 meetings with the Sun Devils. Yet, it's also a Trojan squad that has been very underwhelming this season

Sunday Walkabout

Mornin Mates...

Today's Topic = Sun Devil Version of March Madness

Basically, as far as I can tell, it means going back to bed to get some more rest while others look forward to the real March Madness...

As we all know, our men's BB team is now in 8th place in the PAC (and fading fast) and may catch the ladies BB team that is in 11th place in the PAC, also with a couple of away games remaining...

Thankfully, we have one football player that was invited to the NFL combine in Ro Torrence...:)

We all know that one is better than zero but it's not much to hang our Sun Devil hats on this meaningless March, once again, is it..??

Meanwhile, our baseball team is exhibiting the same trend we've seen in past Sun Devil baseball seasons...:(

It has a bullpen that gives up more runs per game than any other teams except NAU that does not have a Lumberjack baseball program...

The Jacks decided long ago to give up on baseball along with wrestling, swimming and a host of other men's sports that wasn't exciting anyone in Flagstaff...

However, disc golf and logging competitions have replaced those sports at the school and have found a following among some students and fans at the university...

Some of us are looking forward to spring football in the hopes that Dilly can turn around our once competitive Sun Devil football program...

Our friend, Jon Wilner thinks that it will take another year for Dilly to wake up the "sleeping giant" as he figures we will only be good for about 14th place in the 16 team Big 12 conference next season...

Of the Four Corner schools moving to the Big 12, he picks the Utes to win the conference, with AU finishing 4th and Colorado finishing 7th, and with our Devils tabbed for 14th, sandwiched between #13 BYU and #15 Baylor...

Perhaps, we should have stuck with the PAC where Wazzu will face Portland St, Texas Tech, San Jose St, Hawaii, Utah St and Wyoming at home, while visiting Wash, Boise St, Fresno St, San Diego St, New Mexico and Oregon St...

If ASU had that schedule, I would think we could win at least 6 games to become bowl eligible...

And, as a bonus, the new PAC commissioner has decided to keep the PAC-Two Network in place for this next year...

So, my question for the day is this...it there any hope for our dire men's BB program moving forward..??

Can Bobby keep this team intact and build on a well regarded recruiting class and, even if he does, will that improve things to any real degree, like having us get excited about March Madness or not at the end of next season..??

Even if he had a $5M NIL bank account would that change much of anything with his program..??

We've probably already beat that subject to death so I'm just going to go back to bed and sleep through March Madness, which seems to be the most sensible thing to do these days as a Sun Devil fan...

Hibernation until about May seems like a perfectly reasonable response to the current Sun Devil death spiral produced by Michael Crow and directed by Ray Anderson...

BTW, please wake me up if the NCAA Notice of Allegations arrive before May...

At least the sun came up again this fine March morning so there's that to find some comfort in as a Sun Devil fan...;)

Hope you all have a great week and make sure to get plenty of rest this March...:)

G'day Mates and Go Devils!!!
