Tale of the trenches defines Peach Bowl outcome

Arizona State had its fair share of line of scrimmage battles won against Texas, but losing other key battles in that department did contribute to a heartbreaking double overtime defeat to Texas in the Peach Bowl

Leavitt's incompletions

Leavitt went 14-22, 64% for 258 yds, 11.7 YPA, 2 TDs and 0 INTs (0 fumbles) along with 47 rushing yds (including his 2 sacks)

6 of his completions were behind the LOS (VERY high percentage throws) or 43%.

2 drops

The INCOMPLETIONS:

1)Q1/Series 2--Stovall got behind everyone but Leavitt hung the ball allowing the defenders to catch up and knock the ball loose on what was a potential 72 yd TD
2)Q2/Series 3--incomplete to an open Tyson on a 10 yrd dig as Leavitt is unable to step into his throw when a LB shoves Briggs out of the way and has a clear shot to Leavitt's mid-section
3)Q2/Series 5--Leavitt overthrows Skatt (and his limited catch radius) behind the LOS in the flat

4)Q3/Series 6--sprint out right and Leavit overthrows Tyson on a 12 yd out on 1st play of 2nd half
5)Q3/Series 6--Tyson gets a coupla steps behind his man and Leavitt overthrows him in the EZ 45 yds downfield
6)Drop by Tyson in the EZ with both hands on the strike
7)Q3/Series 7--Drop by Stovall on a screen
8)Q3/Series 7--Leavitt overthrows an open Tyson on a 20 yd out at the sideline

NIL payment for former players under the revenue-sharing mode

Former ASU DB Armand Perry posted this on his IG. For reference, he's class of 2014 and played three years at ASU (his career was cut short by injury). At any event, it shows you what former players can expect in terms of financial settlements that are also part of this revenue-sharing model that will go into effect in the summer of 2025

List of NIL of Businesses Supporting the Sun Angel Collective

This was asked in another thread, but it is worth creating a new thread for this topic:

Very proud that two of my sponsors, Sly and Cactus Sports, are on the colab list and San Tan Ford on the partner list!

So, if you wanted to double dip and support both Devils Digest and the Collective, those are the three you shoudol hit up first :)

Saban College Football Commish ?

Penn St coach James Franklin is pushing that idea after someone at the Fiesta Bowl asked him about the Nittany Lions losing its back-up QB to the transfer portal before their big game against Boise St...

He outlined the current chaos in college football created by the transfer portal and NIL deals that have led to instability during bowl season and beyond...

He said that college football needs a leader dedicated solely to college football as a uniting force between bickering conferences...

Saban certainly has the stature and background to do such a thing and I'm not concerned about his ties to the SEC...

I think he gets it regarding all of the conferences and what they are dealing with in this new era of college football...

And, regarding ASU in the playoffs, he has said that it would be unwise to underestimate the Sun Devils...;)

So, what do you think about getting someone to be the commissioner of college football and/or having that someone be Nick Saban..??

Podcast: Peach Bowl loss cannot dampen a remarkable 2024 ASU season

(35 minutes)

The Peach Bowl contest against Texas came oh so close to being ASU’s entire season in a microcosm. A Sun Devil team that comes in as a heavy underdog and exercises its trademark resiliency to overcome adverse odds almost came to fruition in Atlanta. A double-overtime loss, as disappointing as a defeat that it is, could still not put a damper on one of the best campaigns in program history.

There is a lot to break down when it comes to the remarkable journey the Sun Devils took its fan base on, and for that matter, I invited Sun Devil Network sideline reporter Kevin Turner, who was there for each and every contest this past season, to weigh in with his thoughts on the Sun Devils and their improbable 2024 season.

Dillys Xmas Wish.....

Just came true........Texas a 13 1/2 favorite...........and to be honest they probably earned it.....But KD will use this underdog role just like he has all year

The texas roster is much more talented with ****'s, deeper depth chart, etc etc.......for me I am just happy to be here and have the opportunity, knowing where we came from, but our boyz will come to play and the game will be played on the field, not @ the vegas gaming room.......now back to my Xmas duties!

STORY: Sun Devils bounce back in convincing win over Buffaloes

"I told the guys after the BYU game that this was a must-win game coming home." ASU not only avoided an 0-2 start in Big 12 play but their first-ever win in this conference was accomplished in resounding fashion and without their leading scorer

Penalties

vs Wyoming

ASU only had 4 penalties for 30 yds

1 was intentional when at the 36 yd line they elected to accept a Delay of Game penalty to move the ball back to the 41 for punting room...........but the result of the punt was still a touchback

1)Q2/Series 5--Delay of game AFTER a timeout...Highly unusual and embarrassing (leading to a sack, an incompletion and a missed 38 yd FG attempt)
2)Q3/Series 7--Delay of Game intentionally to get punting room from 36 yd line back to the 41...net result is a touchback anyway
3)Q3/Series 8--False Start on WR Xavier Guillory
4)Q4/DEFENSIVE Series 13--Pass Interference on CB Rodney Bimage in EZ as he never turned for the ball and overran the WR
