Five-Star Local Forward Koa Peat Officially Visiting ASU This Weekend

Yes, the same Peat family has produced multiple D-I players, and one of their youngest, Keona Peat, is a current ASU offensive lineman.

Plans to visit Arkansas, Duke, Baylor, and Arizona, with a likely decision coming by the November signing period. One hell of a field to contend with, but there has been a lot of good mojo surrounding the program, so maybe Haurley will pull another rabbit out of his hat, and this one being a legit local blue chipper will move the needle in a major way.

Quick note on WR at today's practice

Troy Omeire replaced Tyson on the first team and the rest of the unit as normal with Stovall and Guillory.

As suspected, Malik McClain, who is redshirting, is on the second team, and yes, he can still play this week because it's the postseason, and he can still redshirt. Jake Smith and Derek Eusebio are on the second team, too. Coben Bourguget is rotating there, too.

Unexpected Impact Plays

None of us will be surprised if Skat goes for 3 TDs. Same with Metayer catching a TD or two or Alford getting an INT. But what is an unexpected impactful play you think will happen tomorrow? Obviously, these are just guesses but let's see if anyone here has an intuition that might come true. I'll start:

Jake Smith is going to catch a pass after play-action on a crossing pattern and outrun the defense to the endzone. It'll be 35+ yards and will happen in the third quarter.

What is your guess?

Podcast: Placing the 2024 season in context, my conversation with Tim Healey

(37 minutes)

True, the 2024 season is still ongoing. Some may call this ASU team the best one we've seen this century, and some are drawing comparisons to the great 1996 squad. My guest on today's episode, The Voice of the Sun Devils, Tim Healey, has been covering Arizona State for nearly four decades and is more than qualified to put this season into perspective and proper context.

In our discussion, Healey talks about the most enjoyable moments he has experienced this year in the radio booth, takes us behind the curtain when traveling with the team and interviewing head coach Kenny Dillingham, and discusses what he has seen from ASU basketball and their torrid 8-1 start.

ALABAMA AD

What crybabies.....the AD is a real genius....saying as I paraphrase and add the teams he's afraid to hurt their feelings to.....maybe we need to reevaluate playing teams like South Florida, Western Kentucky and Mercer. I guess that deep analysis is why he......oh, and let's not leave out Sarkisian at Texas (crying too) and good 'ol Lane, get paid the big bucks. https://www.espn.com/college-footba...-ad-re-evaluate-nonconference-slate-cfp-picks

STORY: Sun Devils make a resounding statement, capturing the Big 12 crown in a rout

“A whole bunch of people stepped up. That's the best part about today." A complete game by ASU nets them an outright conference championship for the first time since 1996, overwhelming Iowa State 45-19

Baseball Winter Mtgs

Oh Oh, J Healey's Rangers making another run for the AL West/W Series! Resigned N Eovaldi for 3 yrs, and then traded for Jake Burger, who is NO Cheeseburger in paradise but a good power hitter none the less!

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/42905358/rangers-acquire-jake-burger-trade-marlins

in the meantime all is quiet with the AL West Champs in H-Town ;)

Dbacks looking like they could lose both Christian Walker, Joc Pederson unless they can anti up more NIL for them!

Penalties

vs Wyoming

ASU only had 4 penalties for 30 yds

1 was intentional when at the 36 yd line they elected to accept a Delay of Game penalty to move the ball back to the 41 for punting room...........but the result of the punt was still a touchback

1)Q2/Series 5--Delay of game AFTER a timeout...Highly unusual and embarrassing (leading to a sack, an incompletion and a missed 38 yd FG attempt)
2)Q3/Series 7--Delay of Game intentionally to get punting room from 36 yd line back to the 41...net result is a touchback anyway
3)Q3/Series 8--False Start on WR Xavier Guillory
4)Q4/DEFENSIVE Series 13--Pass Interference on CB Rodney Bimage in EZ as he never turned for the ball and overran the WR

NIL Question for anybody

This is a question I can’t get my head around. So next year everybody will have $15 million to pay football players. Will some of the Blue Bloods schools still have an extra 20 million or 30 million in addition to this $15 million. If this is the case, the windfall for players is going to be unbelievable. Or will the new rules rain in a lot of excess spending? I think that’s the intention but I can’t see any way that will happen. I think the only way is a hard salary cap. But let’s see. The only reason why I think this could possibly work is that even a lot of the SEC schools who dominate the sport are starting to see the current situation is unattainable, but the situation really is the wild wild West.
